exwhyzee - It is important for some to see the WTS topple. For me - all my family is still in. If there was a way to undermine their authority I could have a real open relationship with them again. It doesn't stop me enjoying my life and I am not obsessed with it, but I would love to contribute to its collapse.

I really like the idea of sending e-mails from anonymous addresses with "subtle" apostate thinking. Perhaps presented as a question or a really positive experience that reveals a huge hole in the WTS reasoning.

The hardest part of challenging the "authority" of the governing body is to get someone to listen. Once they listen you'll have them with in a a few years. Get the questions into their mind and it will do the rest.

I know of at least one person on this board who has turned the tables on the WT by shunning his JW relatives. He's moved his family out of the country so his kid can grow up without the cult's influence.

Good for him but doesn't solve anything really, does it?

Personally I was not persuaded that Jehovah's Witnesses are wrong primarily on the basis of doctrinal errors or empirical failures.

What convinced me the Society is wrong was the dubious ethics of their teachings, and in particular the mind control in their insistence that you are not allowed to read opposing literature, study the Bible alone in groups, learn the Bible languages for yourself, or even pre-study the Watchtower in informal gatherings. The glaring inconsistency of Jehovah's Witnesses inviting others to reconsider their beliefs while refusing to allow the slightest consideration of problems in their own religion is very hard to get past when you start thinking about it. At a certain point you just get fed up with not being allowed to ask questions of 'the truth'. It's not so much what you find out when you read apostate information that turns you against the Watchower, it's the very fact that you are forbidden from looking in the first place. There is just no good excuse for that stance. It is hypocritical and demonstrates in itself how shallow the beliefs of Jehovah's Witnesses are to the extent that their own leaders are not confident that they can bear scrutiny.

I'd say it solves a lot for his son.

I cant believe this hasnt been brought up but..

    Why not question the bible?

When i left the elders seemed quite pleasently surprised that i didnt question the governing body. They even asked if i had doubts about the GB and i said, "no i believe they are following the bible to the best of their ability".

They actually prefered me to disagree with the bible rather than the governing body. And when i brought up the vile things in the bible some actually agreed and just said those things took place in a different time so it's hard for us to understand them.

So why dont we make it our focus to expose the infancide and genocide in the bible. Ask them underwhat circumstances it is acceptable to slaughter an innocent child?

TheLoveDoctor No they cant trace the email back to you

If it was a matter of law the police could trace the IP number then they would have to get a warrent to get your service provider to match the IP address to your home address.

The only thing i could think of was if your password reminder for your fake email somehow related to you, they may put two and two together.

most likely they would delete the email anyway

This is a great thread, full of info. and ideas, I love Agonus' idea of starting our own cult, but fear it is not too easy to get going.

The authority of the GB/FDS rests on the supposed choosing of them (Rutherford and Gang) by Jesus in 1919.

This is patently nonsense and cannot be defended, but I have pointed it out so many times to members of the Cult and it makes no difference.

It is the same with Catholics, the Church's authority rests on Apostolic succession, which cannot be proved, it makes no difference to the believing Catholic. They feel, as do the JDubs, that the authority is self evident.

How do we undermine this blind acceptance of authority ??????????

That was the real key for me. Once I realized the Governing Body didn't represent God the rest of their shackles came off pretty quickly.

Let us remember that Witnesses displayed a remarkable resistance to Nazi pressure - this is a very hard nut to crack. There are only two ways to do it.

    1) Keep chipping away! This way is effective but frustrating because it is gradual, over many years. If you look at the organization today in comparison with the past, these guys are getting weaker over time. So, they have numbers, still growing, but numbers of what, exactly? People who don't donate? Pioneers who put in 70 hours (not 90 or 100)? Kids leading double lives?

    2) A Hard Disaster at the Head - I have only observed one way that a congregation of Witnesses can disintegrate quickly and to do that, you need massive scandal or open war amidst the elders. Cut off the head and the snake dies.

Don't sell current negative trends short! Losing elders and donations are having their effect.

Don't discount a possible collapse at the top! I will keep repeating this point: powerful cults like this can fall apart quickly if the LEADERSHIP lose all faith in the system, as happened with Communism. This can happen even if the followers are brainless zombies.

I say there is growing evidence that the Governing Body and their lackeys are losing faith in the whole thing and 'just going thru the motions' . They cut meetings, they sell off Branches, they dump Bethelites, they see the donations, the loss of young people, the loss of elders....

Obviously, I have no loyalty to these frauds - and yet, I can conceive of all sorts of things they could be doing to motivate and improve the organization. The fact that they can't suggests to me me just how slack this cult has gotten.
