Do more born ins leave the Org rather than those who converted?

I must live in an exceptional area, nothing like 2/3 leave here, probably less than 40%.

I think more born-ins leave both as a percentage and total numbers. Just a hunch though.

I suppose if someone had asked me I would have thought that more born ins leave. Possibly because as a child they would have missed out on so much and would not wish this on their children. My husband said he has never wanted children because of the upbringing he had.

Also, I also thought that if someone had converted it was their own choice and would have done so as an adult. 3Mozzies may well have a point though in that born ins may be more brainwashed whereas a convert would have knowledge of what life was like beforehand.

However, some interesting thoughts here, thank you.

This is so true. I can't tell you how many days I see teenagers and young adults, and even mature adults smiling, laughing, and enjoying life, and how jealous I get as a result. Jehovah's Witnesses having children is tantamount to child abuse. Cruel to put young people through that kind of upbringing. The mental gymnastics is just overwhelming some days. I thought it would get easier as I got older, but the truth was its gotten worse. Much, Much worse. I swear I will never have children if I remain a JW. Never!

I was a convert. It took me 23 years to wake up & finally escape. Hubby was technically a born in (as he was 2 when he became one) and was one for 43 years. He always thought something was up with them, but due to fear it never occurred to him to seriously question what he knew. Once he did, everything fell into place & we all ditched !!!!

From my experiences everyone that I know of who converted are still active JW's. All the teens and others who were brought up JW's have long since ditched.... There only the odd few who are super holier than now that are still there. (More fool them!)

Of my generation, I'd say that those that leave are less than 50%. Observation of my area at least...

Of younger generations, early 30 somethings, 20 somethings and even teens, I see fewer of them committing to the JW lifestyle. It may well be closer to 80% of them leaving.

But, of my generation, even those that stayed in, they aren't zealous like our parents and grandparents were. They're pretty slack compared to the older ones. I think Armageddon's delay has cancelled that sense of urgency and most dubs my age or so are just going through the motions. And that's why their kids are even less inspired by it. Each generation coming to age has less zeal and faith than the one previous. Speaking generally, of course. There's always some zealots and those that are committed (or should be).

Little Imp, pride could be keeping your MIL in, some people hate to admit when they make a mistake

I truly made a mistake and I asked all of my family to forgive me, because they never stopped showing

me love even when I was brainwashed. One sister told me she prayed for my awakening. I told her that

was one hell of a prayer.

I don't want to guess about statistics. My wife and I both converted in our early twenties and left 15 years later.
