The one God foretold who would be loyal and faithful, who would save mankind... to have him turn to the darkside? It seems sort of a like a last ditch effort, because if Christ did as God said through to His death, then God was right, and its only a matter of time until Satan is gone.

Yes! Yes! Yes!
It was a last-ditch effort. A fruitless one at that.
I believe that's why Jesus' death was over-kill to the nth degree.
It's as if all the forces of darkness were unleashed upon that one Person.
Yet, He withstood it!
What a Man!

Thanks for this thread - LeavingWT. It leaves much foundation for thought...
You're welcome. I came across this topic while reading a book on Sunday and I decided to throw it out there, so that we could all (possibly) learn something new.

God tempts no one beyond their ability. 1 Corinthians 10:13.
There is no such thing as "tests".

Except, perhaps, for Adam & Eve?

Ooh! Good point. Wish I had thought of that.

Interesting, even though the temptation was Satan's, one wonders if God had never mentioned the tree of knowledge, if there would have been any temptation at all, or if the true temptation was in what God said and not Satan.
