The above is something i often heard JW's say in one way or another, but they could never fully eleabourate.

So i propose a debate: Is the world "bad and "soo awfull"? as the JW's would have you belive?

How about Ecclesiastes 7:10: Do not say, "Why were the old days better than these?" For it is not wise to ask such questions.

There are always problems in the world. Wars, strife, disasters, etc. Currently we have economic woes...

But - when someone really tries to paint the world as so bad I point out just a couple of things...

Waste treatment and electricity.

Do you have to go out in the cold to your outhouse? Do you have to dig a new latrine every so often? Or do you just push the handle down and let the magic water take away your poopies with nary a thought as to where it goes?

Do you have to keep a fire lit, so you can heat your hovel or cook your gruel by the light provided by that fire? Or do you go in your modern kitchen flip a switch for instant light and reach into your refirgerator/freezer for fresh food and then cook it in your oven/stove...all without having to go get firewood or stoking embers back to life...

And while you're at it, your cable TV (or satellite) of a few hundred channels is providing you with instant entertainment as you cook, eat, do the dishes and relax with a glass of wine to watch Dancing With the Stars...

Yep, this system sux and we need changes...

This got brought up in my JC. The elders kept pushing that line and I said that I didn't necessarily agree. I mentioned the Black death outbreaks killing 1 in 3 people in Europe, the Napoleonic wars killing 20 million people, The Mongol conquering and slaughteering their way across asia and europe, the Crusades, the exctincion of the native north and south americans, the roman wars of conquests, slavery by the egyptians, the romans, the greeks, the persian wars of conquest, that rape used to be ok, women used to be viewed as property, the great jewish revolt, etc.

I might have mentioned that anyone with a passing knowledge of world history would know any of these things and the WT research staff should be embarrased that a redneck from NC with no college education knew more about about basic world history than they did.

well if they hate it now wait till they revert to living in an undeveloped world and they had to get off their arses and grow gather their own food and take care of all their other neccesities, cos for all this talk of armageddon coming sooooo soon, i didnt see any example of anyone teaching practical survival skills at the hall.

or are they presuming that once everything is cleansed they can put their feet up while 'jehovah' lays on takeaways housing and instant toilets?

It's "so bad" because of today's media. Money is made off of juicy stories so it really puts the entire world in a much darker light than what is really happening out there.

exactly sab, they depend and feed on all the bad things in the news to reassure themselves that 'armagonnagettums' coming.
