  Upon what evidence do you base this belief? Is it really strong enough evidence to not only adhere to the belief but base a worldview around?

  I'm just guessing but based on what little I know of psychology and sociology it seems more likely that the stated belief is incorrect and merely a by-product of your Borg indoctrination.

  LOL, I hope your right Mad, I really do. I believe this country is headed towards something, I don't know what it is, but something's got to give. I remember the pendulum swung one way with people afraid to say anything because of political correctness. Now the pendulum is swinging the other way where people say whatever it is they want to say. Its getting to the point where extremists appear almost normal. David Duke tried years ago to pull it off, but his closet was too dirty. Pat Buchanon tried too, but I think he was too old and tired to maintain any kind of momentum. In the same way that the entertainment industry continues to push the bar on bad language and sexual content in movies and television to the point you can hear an F-bomb in a PG-13 movie, politicians and pundits have done the same with civil discourse. Or should we call it uncivil discourse. They just keep pushing, and pushing. I wasn't alive when Kennedy got shot, but I sorta get the feeling reading old articles that the mood which existed in the country back then, has reappeared and seems more hostile.

  I agree with you, misery. Rome went through similar changes in culture after their "peak". Degredation in language and morals was an obvious sign.

  My mother-in-law seems to be under the impression that she will just have everything she needs and wants in the New World.

  When she saw my dishwasher in our last house she said "I will have one in the New World". When she heard we were fitting a new kitchen in our new home she said "I will have a fitted kitchen in the New World".

  My husband said that she said to him once that she will learn to fly a plane in the New World.

  It is such a shame, he says their lives have been on hold since the late sixties when they were all looking forward to 1975. Their house is awful, they have done very little believing Armargeddon is around the corner and that she will soon be having all these things. She is now 82 years of age.

  You know, there s a place where, at night, a father and mother lie awake with trears in their eyes because, trying to sleep next to them, are their children that are crying and in pain because they had nothing to eat, because they had to run from their home or be killed or raped, they have noroof over their heads, no food, no water, no prospects of life really, they are sick and dying.

  THESE PEOPLE have the right to complain and say things are awful, very few of us have that right, very few JW's have that right.

  Yet these people are being helped, they are being saved, they are being loved, not all of them, no, but some and by who?

  By those that live to make this world a better place NOW !

  Of course not. It was a slow degradation. I meant after it's peak of power, it BEGAN to degrade. I see the same sorts of social degredation in our society. Not that the end of the world is coming because people swear... :-)

  If you want to convince yourself that the world is a vile, horrible, awful place, you will NEVER, EVER have any shortage of evidence to back up that belief.

  The nature of the universe is destruction and violence. From asteroid strikes causing mass extinctions to animals brutally ripping apart other animals to star's undergoing supernova and destroying entire solar system to some men trying to take advantage of other men.
