Syl, with regard to the Book of Jasher, from the page you linked to..."This is one of the apochrypal Books of Jasher . There are several (as many as five) separate works by this title, all composed much later than Biblical times. This particular one is a translation of a Hebrew book printed in 1613. Sepir Ha Yasher, the Hebrew title of this book, means the 'Book of the Upright', or 'the Upright or Correct Record'."

From Wikipedia... "The Book of Jasher is the normal English name (used by, e.g., the King James Bible) of a work known in the original Hebrew as Sefer haYashar, (??? ????; also transliterated Seper haiYašar). It is the best-known of several "Lost books of the Old Testament", books referenced in the Hebrew Bible of which no copies are known to exist."

I think certain people like the old religions filled with mysticism and spells. People gather at Stonehenge dressed like Druids, some get off on acting like witches, maybe we should just re-popularize Hercules again and tell people they will cross the River Styx.

NVL, I researched everything as thoroughly as I could, and did as my estranged Jamaican husband likes to say, picked sense out of nonsense.

    Thank you.

I agree with OTWO. Evil dwells here.

There is a dark power that loves evil and hates good.

It hates and envies us. How could such feeble worthless things like us be so beloved by the Creator?

It's greatest success was having the Son executed.

It's greatest success turns out be the very thing that vanquishes it. It was its greatest failure.

The serpent bit the heel, yet that very action is what allowed the heel to crush the serpent's head.

God's will cannot be frustrated. Even evil turns to good.

The fact that we will be raised up to a glory far greater than it ever had drives it mad with rage and hate.

It does as much as it can to frustrate our upward journey by enticing us to choose lesser things over greater ones.

    Misery loves company.

no, i do not believe there is a devil, any more than an almighty god.

so, to fill the vacuum, i will believe in the Loch Ness Monster

it's more credible, some people claim to have seen it

    anyone seen god?

what sins were the people in Noah's day committing that deserved worldwide destruction?

I can tell you this: the infants and children were GUILTY of being born into SIN! How dare they think they have a right to live like that! Thank god he wiped them off the earth by drowning them. It's always best to give little ones the death penalty before they're old enough to decide whether they want to follow mommy & daddy's course of life. Nip it in the bud early, that's what I say.

Are we still talking about a literal spirit being? If so, for being one of the most intelligent minds in the universe, Satan is a poor strategist. So God sent his beloved son (or himself, if you believe that way) to earth to die for Adam's sin, right? It sounds like Satan did exactly what was expected of him to fulfill God's will. Why should that be held against him?

If Satan were half as smart as people credit him, I'd think he would've made sure NOTHING happened to Jesus. Protect him and let him die of old age (if that's possible for a half-spirit breed). Why would he work in harmony with God's righteous plan and help fulfill the "prophecies"? Seems counterproductive. Ol' Satan's not too sharp. It almost seems like he's a character written into a novel by someone who wasn't smart enough to bestow anything above a 10 year old's intelligence into that character's actions.
