  I must say that I appreciate all of the view points expressed on this board. I am still serving (planning on stepping down shortly after the km school) and working on getting several family members to see the truth for what it is. Serving as an elder has given me more credibility in this effort. I refuse to sit on any committees, and will not teach something that I do not feel is true. It is a tough position to be in and having the non judgmental support of the fellow board members means a lot.

  With that said, it is nice to see that there are people who are just like me in various stages of leaving the org. Cantleave is an inspiration to me by the way he did it. MLE has a moderate view, and Elderelite is in a tough spot also. I guess the main point of what I am trying to say is; the beauty of this board is that it is populated by people who are thinking for themselves now. Let's give each one the chance to reach their own conclusions about the org and their own involvement without judging them as evil hypocritical people.

  This is the only place that I have seen in my life where those who are "still in" are able to question their beliefs without fear of retribution. I came here so I could question things without being criticized and or judged as being evil and hypocritical as I would have been within the congregation. SIAM

  Yes - after being in the ultra-judgemental environment of the congregation a place like this is just like " Mounts Hermon's Dew" (sorry but that expression just came to my head).

  If I appeared judgemental above, please accept my apologies, I did not intend too. I too gain much by reading posts by MLE, EE and other serving elders such as yourself, I am not saying they hypocritical, but treading a very fine line.

  "groan" you mean "Mr. Herman's doo"? Everyone is in a different stage of exiting. I think it is important to allow us to proceed at our own pace. we all have different circumstances and ways of approaching the problem. That's fine in my opinion. This board is invaluable to the process. I can say with all honesty that when letters are leaked or reports are made ie. the annual meeting, the resulting discussion is very interesting. You have a tremendous mix of viewpoints and perspectives that count for a lot.

  I have not noticed any personal attacks, but I would like to piss on the WTsociety. They suck!

  I'm sorry if that pisses on some Jw searchers, but maybe they need to hear the disaster stories.

  I love people and jw people...I just cant stand the religion that has done so much damage to my family.

I didnt say that the sole reason I'm an elder is to provide this board with info, not that i am confirming that I do anyway. My point was there were three or four of you pontificating that there was no excuse or reason that would ever in a million years justify someone being an elder one minute longer than their first post on this board. I was then simply replying that it would be hypocritical of you to then make use of the info that an elder provided because of his position. At this point let me be clear to you, littleburger, darkside and mosche the super apsotate, as well as anyone else who cares to ask.

  I only seek to help you recognize in yourselves the hypocracy you acuse others of. its sad to see people with Judgemental and ignorant mindsets and souls as bitter as day old coffee.

  I remember when I began to come here 9 years ago to start reading. I just could not believe most of it but it gradually began to sink in and when I finally signed up and began to post I was attacked for my defence of my then belief's. It got so bad I left and when to Channel C and recieved kinder more patient help. Later I returned to here and began to understand the hostility of so many ex-witness because I became one but it took time.

  Please everyone who has been out a while, be kind, try to understand where the active JW's are coming from don't just assume they have bad intent toward those of us old timers. Listen more talk less and if your comments aren't going to help them think then perhaps it would be best to just leave it alone.

  EE - I am sure you think you have good reason to stay on the BOE. I have never said there is no excuse or reason for staying on, but I will say there are actually very few genuine reasons. I don't know you or your reasons for staying on, but surely when undergoing paradigm shift, it useful to challenge everything, including you own position and motives.

  I was not misquoting you. You did call Bigmac an ignorant ass (or something similar) without knowing who he is, how long he had been out of the borg, or even his reasons for being on this board. Your justification for calling him that, was that elders on this board can supply inside information.

  My argument is this, in order to supply insider info, you are still supporting a corrupt cult system. As part of that system you will be expected to play your part in Judicials, reproofs and other mechanisms that could cause harm to others. To do that when you no longer believe yourself, is at least bordering on Hypocrisy and surely, long term, is untenable.

  My second point is to think about what really keeps you serving? Is it because you enjoy the status? That may sound accusative, but it is a question I had to ask myself. Being an elder had benefits in the cult, and they are hard to relinquish.
