Freebies become a right because they become an expectation of "where's my coffee?" What, no coffee? I have a right to that coffee because it's always been there. Do you know how much money "I" spend in this store? Hundreds of dollars, now you take MY RIGHT to free coffee away. I'll show you, take my bussiness elsewhere. The mooch leaves, the regular folks that don't drink coffee continue to come back. Actually for the store it's a win-win, the mooch hits the road, the real buyer continues to come back.

As to the human condition that casues this: give a hungary man a fish he eats for a day, teach him to fish and he eats for a life time. Give people free things they not only feel it's a right, they insist it's a right. Simply stated people are lazey. When you don't have to pay, why should you. Read the history of Jamestown. A society that falls to that level, disinegrates.

All I know is that the next time I come in the Hulen HPB there had better be fresh coffee and Terry had better be there. Couple of months ago I drove from the downtown hospital district took a wrong turn and wound up by some railroad tracks. Scared the shit outta me. And when I got there, no Terry. I did buy a nice Ayn Rand poster though.

Hey Quentin, I haven't forgot about ya. just been busy.

?? Another intellectual wannabe whose development was arrested in junior high school.

It's OK, sooner. Don't be frightened. We are here for you and will be patient with your DUMB ASS GIBBERISH!

Shouldn't we give Terry the benefit of respecting the subject of his interesting thread about human nature?

Regarding the free coffee..I like THE TRUE ONES statement/suggestion of a sign that reads:

    FREE COFFEE WHEN AVAILABLE

It still shows you care but lets them know that the company may be too busy to fill the pot..they can't take that as a personal insult..

As far as the rest..I agree, we are entitled to whatever the government allow us to have..

They also have the freedom to take it back anytime they want..scary but true.

Everyone has a boss..no one is ever totally free!

As usual, Bizby comes up a with a brilliant and profound rebuttal with nothing more than a snide remark and an emoticon! Apparently, she is so far advanced over us intellectually that anything more than grunts and chuffing are beneath her.

I must have missed the "interesting" part. I only got the part where a retail employee resents his customers (how unusual!) and turns it into an excuse to indulge his man-crush....oh, excuse me - his Ayn-crush - and quote her adolescent blatherings to us yet again.

I was once taken with Ayn Rand and profoundly influenced by her writings. Then I graduated eighth grade.

You graduated 8th grade? No wonder you left the truth and got all worldly. So where it at today? Depak Chopra?

    No coffee for you!

LOL Gregor's such a bitch sometimes isn't he?

By the way, anyone from the Ft. Worth area (Me, Terry, Quentin, etc.) probably understands exactly what I was talking about.
