I've lived in California since early 1967, but I rarely hear people call it "Cali" except people not from California or people who have only lived in California for a relatively short time.

Sooooo in other words, considering your age, you've lived in Cali a very short time. And why do you care what they call it?

I have a gig in Novato on the 16th, dear Frankie (the greatest of love and peace to you, dear one!). If you want to come out, call me and I'll give you the particulars (others... if you've come before, come on out, too, if you want! If you haven't but want to and need the address/directions, PM me). I also audition Monday for a gig in a (classier) restaurant in San Leandro (I did a "quick" audition for the owner last night, after my Novato gig, and was asked to come back Monday... so we'll see!!).

Dearest Farkely-Man, my brutha... the greatest of love and peace to you! Now, you know I'm from San Diego, too, and we always called it "Dego" when I was there (early 60's-early 80's). My grown kids (who were born in Dego) and their friends call California "Cali", so I think you're a generation... or two... late. Also, I have heard people from San Francisco express two sides of the coin: some call it "Frisco" themselves... and some threaten to beat the daylights outta you for calling it "Frisco." We just call it "the City". You know, to be PC... and to decrease the chance of getting our throats cut.
