Do you think that the WT will ban the Internet?

WebTV and other television "Internet appliances" will save the day for many JWs if a "divinely inspired" cyber-ban should go into effect. The friends can sneak a peak at JW bulletin boards through one of these inexpensive devices without the Society knowing what hit them. ;-)

What about their own website?.. Even the most brainwashed of them would have a job to swallow a ban when their own site is on line.

As I have said before, I only got into the net after the 1999 Kingdom Ministry. I guess even they know that a ban is unworkable because it is untraceable, and their is so much legitamate use. Business, school projects etc.

But expect more of the same, in the form of dire warnings of demons lurking in cyber space, strict guidance for parents etc

Have to agree banning internet would be like banning telephone. One of the most powerful words to a JW is FREE. Free comunication without paying fees or long distance phone/fax. A relative of mine just returned from overseas construction assignments. I was amazed at how much internet capability was connected on one phone line including e-mail for all on project too. I know several fanatical and long time JWs who are backwards keeping up with technology. They will never give up their computer bought & used for low cost commmunication. All the JW extended family to keep up with.

Must also agree with more 'back door banning', though. All the knowledge in the world, to crash Watchtower, is up and running on the internet and only a click away.

Now, how to convince JWs to only "Keyboard in the Org".

    Well, proplog,

I rather think that some people come here for fluff & jokes.....lord knows, there are actually sites that have nothing but those things!

    howdy y'all,

The last Circuit Assembly had 3 different PO's on the stage talking about problems in their own congregations. All 3 said that the internet was the biggest danger of all - and pulled more christians out of the Truth than anything else.

I had never been on the internet, so I assumed they were talking about porn. LOL!

I would suspect there will be horror stories in the Awake about "How I was captured by the Demons on the Internet, and how the Elders Saved me" sort of things coming out. Of course, no name of individual, no proof - but it instills fear of the unknown.

But there must have been at least 6 different warnings given that day (one day assembly) about the horrors of the internet. And that was 2 years ago.

Look how far we've come since then, Babe.

I also read something about spies on post here...a really nice elder, whom I think is a good person and really loves people, well, he likes Britney Spears. Okay, so the guy is in his forties and single, but some bitch-spy was on E-Bay looking up people names and found out he was buying Britney Spears posters.

So he was talked to by the elders. HOW EMBARRASSING. I really feel for the guy, because although he was kind of a geek, I can't say one bad thing about him. And that c**t-bitch made him look like a pedophile for liking Britney Spears.

BTW, this guy is as chaste as chaste gets. But, he's not a perv. I know this guy. Such a shame.

    Thats sick Ashi. Truly sick.

Freedom of choice even if remaining chaste is a crime within the Borg.

    Stories like this nauseate me.

The true Kingdom of God is located in your heart, not an organization of hypocrites.

I see Cygnus' point. You can have more fun here if you don't take it seriously as some staging area for a frontal assault on JW's.

I don't think they will ban the Internet. Much like the TV, the Internet is not something they can't get away from, and seeing that they already use the Internet, it isn't very likely to go away in JWland. My uncle, RIP....did lots of witnessing online and even recorded his time, because he was not able to get out of a wheelchair, or his house. The elders thought it was a great idea. Too bad the demons can't really reach and and strangle the occasional Net savvy JW....
