niether Jesus or his Appostles celebrated them despite knowing all about them.

Jesus and His apostles didn't celebrate wedding anniversaries either. After he died, the apostles didn't have annual meetings at Beth-El. The apostles didn't have a Tuesday night book study, a Thursday night Theocratic Ministry School followed by a Service Meeting. They didn't have a public talk delivered on Sundays, followed by a WT Study. They didn't have Circuit Assemblies, District Conventions, there was no such thing as a Regular Pioneer, Auxilliary Pioneer, Special Pioneer, Circuit Overseer, District Overseer, Branch Committee, territories, publishers, turning in of field service time to the older men within the community, the enforcement of shaving causing severe razor bumps for many, wearing full suits as opposed to a blazer or sports coat with decent slacks..................we can go on and on and on........how far do you want to go with this?

Again, if the new Flock book is any indicator, there might be slight loosening on how we view holidays in The Truth. (how do you guys to the trademark thing anyway?) What makes it particulary sickening to me is if they do loosen their views on holidays, the average Witness is too brainwashed to recognize that this is NOT new light, but it is in fact showing that those men had not a foot to stand on regarding their previous view of holidays in the first place. It wasn't new light, it wasn't truth because it had to be changed. Meaning, they were wrong about it the whole time we labeled it truth.

September 22, 2003, Awake!, page 24, 'The Piñata - An Ancient Tradition':

"We found that for many people in Mexico, the piñata has lost its religious significance and is considered by most to be just harmless fun...A main concern is, not what the practice meant hundreds of years ago, but how it is viewed today in your area. Understandably, opinions may vary from one place to another. Hence, it is wise to avoid turning such matters into big issues

The point is who gets to decide if birthdays are wrong because of pagan roots ?

    Awesome point here.

Wow, interesting find caliber. Insane teeter-tottering ideals going on in the WT. Must be some differences in opinion among the writers.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but as it seems there is a rather lively debate going on here, I thought I would try to lighten the mood.

I celebrated my birthday for the first time this year. I really didn't know what to do with myself. My girlfriend asked if I wanted to have a big party, but I chose to keep things small, instead. All those years of indoctrination left a big (bad) impression on me. A little at a time, I guess. Lol.

    Okay, back to the debate.

Off topic somewhat but maybe this will give you that wow feeling yet again ...

1935 saw the brief attempt by Jehovah's Witnesses to adopt a new calendar freed from any connection to other religions or with names derived from paganism

By the way our present time keeping system .. minutes, hours, days etc are right from Babylon

most all our days of the week and months are named for pagans or pagan god's

The Jewish adoption of Babylonian calendar customs dates from the period of the Babylonian Exile in the 6th century BC.

How does one know if Jesus celebrated a birthday or not? Does it say he didn't? It appears that Job did. Bible doesn't say Mary and Joseph celebrated their wedding anniversary and yet witnesses do and they also wear wedding rings which have pagan origins. You don't find anyone in the bible wearing a wedding ring as well so why is that ok today???

WTS has crapload of rules they pulled out of their ass and they force millions to follow their stupidity. Many of us followed these out of ignorance but when we learn the world isn't according to wts we grow up and leave the stupidity behind.
