One big difference: unless they're caring their book bags or something you can't tell they're JW's. And even then it might not register on some one that doesn't know anything about JW's. You can look at me and make a guess about my age, you can look at Tammy and see she's female, you can look at Syl and see she's black and female.

JWs can certainly be viewed as an oppressed minority. Ask the Russian JWs!

i know from the group work i am involved in
that the genuine lack of equality in several
areas singnifcantly affects the quality of life
within the LGBTQ community....oppression seems to be an adequate description

I don't get that...
What difference does it make if you can tell they're JWs or not?
Why does a physical difference have to be in place to determine that someone is an oppressed group or not?
What about Nazi Germany's oppression of members of it's own society? They had the Jews, JWs, gypsies, and gays, among others, wear symbols so you could tell them apart from the "accepted" German people.
What about the oppression of gay/lesbians now? Because you can't pick them out of the crowd, they're not oppressed?

Dear Snow, I will go with the obvious application of "oppressed minority."
I am getting along just fine!
However, some groups have been treated worse than others, as you know very well.

Does anyone believe JWs aren't an oppressed people?.... Scientologists are too. Many people are oppressed and life does go on for them as they make the best out of it.
