I'm sure the legal, public relations and other depts. are all asking the GB how to handle this situation. And I'm convinced the GB is scratching it's head trying to decipher J's spirit direction in all of this. Should they really move on it...could get a lot worse if they do.... News agencies are always looking for a good story...
Is the WT going to move on this leak?

It will be interesting to see where they go with this. The book is out and they cannot control people emailing it to friends.

What sort of move could they make? If they don't know who leaked it, they have no target.
ANY publicity from this goes against the Borg. Do you think a group who wanted to keep a secret manual undercover and failed to do so wants the public to know about that failure?
They may tell the local congregations about it via letter, with the hope of scaring the rank and file of the Vast Apostate Army and maybe smoking out the culprit, but other than a letter and maybe some instructions to COs to dig deeper during their visits, there's little they can do.

i seriously doubt legal boys ask the good ole boys (GB) anything. WHY --- they don't know their arse from a hot rock and are thusly a facade.

Although the org is not happy about this book leaking, in reality there is nothing in it that would wake up a questioning JW. It gives the elders a feeling of self-importance to have a secret book, so they would likely feel slighted...and the org likes to maintain that, as well as the persectuion complex. But all issues are created, not real.

Here's a solution! They can disfellowship all the elders and appoint new ones, then release a new book.

Once the big diesel horn has been honked, it cannot be un-honked.
It is indeed ironic that if they had not tried to make this non-secret thing such a big secret, there would never have been an issue.

Personally I'd be surprised if any news organization would have interest in this. I could be wrong, but something that affects 0.5% of the population usually doesn't make for awfully compelling news.
I imagine that the WTS will still continue its efforts to remove it from file-sharing sites, but that's about it. Perhaps a reminder letter to each CoBE, and maybe a stern reminder during the CO visit and the elders' meeting at the SAD/CA, but nothing else.
For the WTS, it only becomes a big deal if they start treating it like one. The more action they take-- or the more they say-- the more it will take on "urban legend" status in the organization. It's in their interests to simply downplay the importance of it to everyone.

The only problem with that is the fact that it would be reasonable and logical to downplay it. Which is anathema (being reasonable and logical) to the Watchtower Society.

I can only hope for some JWs, that if they learned this elder's book is out on the Internet available for the general public, that hopefully feel that they themselves should be aware of it and not be afraid to know the contents also. Many won't have the healthy curiosity that the WTS has destroyed, but some will.
