I agree that there are pro's and con's to disfellowshipping ..for example loud disturbances can't to tolerated at meeting places.
"Wait, what? Unruly people should be disfellowshipped? Just ask them to leave, they come back, tell them they are no longer welcome."
Without going into detail I was talking about a very extreme situation that actually happened.. where even a knife was drawn.. finally the cops were called to take him away. I don't think it would have been wise to try reason with such a person holding a knife in his hand ! I think there was strong enough reason from other instances to warrant his disfellowshipment simply for protection of congregation

Well, I see I stirred up some controversy.....LOL......I see all points presented here, and I do agree that DFing has been abused as I was a member of a congregation in Oregon that was less than desirable, to say the least. I have been inactive for about 10 years now and during this time I have had the opportunity to visit different congregations in California, where I now reside. My finding is that I think there are some bad congo's out there that refuse to follow the Society's guidelines and follow their own version. But, people being people have to screw things up just because. I believe that for the most part the Witnesses have the truth. I too have my own issues that I am trying to sort out with the the JWs. Even though I have been a victim of dysfunctional Witnesses, I still try to keep some things in perspective I guess. The stories I could tell you would take me weeks.........So yes, I see what is being stated. I was just trying to say that sometimes there are people that would continue bad behavior without some sort of sanctioning....and those who play the system, I have seen that too. I guess there are a million and one ways that we can view these issues.
