She came in the JW world in 1966 with her mother- she was 6 years old. She graduated from high school in 1976. During the 90 minutes I spent with her yesterday, she mentioned that the Org never said the end was coming in 1975-" it was just a few who said that and they all left after 1976- which was good- because Jah needed to cleanse the KH of all who were serving with just a date in mind.

I asked her, "don't you remember the assembly talk from 1969 or 1970, where the speaker said, "stay alive until 75"- no she didn't remember.
I explained that our KH had a CO tell us from the platform," brothers there is only 18 months left until Armageddon- Wow, she exclaimed.

I continued my story, "The PO's 16 year old son quit school in 1974- to become a regular pioneer- he was held up as a fine example in the Cong- and used as an example at a Circuit assembly that year of someone who putting Jehovah's work first. Didn't you have some who quit school to pioneer back then?"

" Maybe, I can't remember everything that happened- I was pretty young"

"Well, I did see it happen, and people quit jobs and lost pensions to pioneer. One couple boasted they had $5000 in the bank, they had quit their good jobs, sold their house and they were pioneering now- the end would be here before that money was gone" -I suppose, they were upset when it did run out and they had to go back to work"

"When I tried to tell the bros nobody knows the day or hour, the elders told me I lacked faith-keep quiet, so I kept my mouth shut"

"Tell me about your kids, sister, did they go on to college or become pioneers after HS"-

"uh, they both graduated from college and have good jobs"

She sure as shit knew about '75, but just didn't want to stumble you! They're scared to acknowledge stuff like that coz big bruvva is listening.

Tell us more, Moshe. I just can't believe this sister didn't smell a rat with all you were coming out with!

Well, she didn't act upset- maybe I should have been a priest and gone into the confession business.

We had a discssion on the 1914 new understanding, too. - and Mormons vs Jws and their shunning, WT blood dogma-. I gave it to her in 5 minute doses- let her recover, then hit her again with something else.

I really hope some JW says that to me someday so I can ask them where those few got the idea in the first place. Oh, and also, how they can justify calling 99% of the congregation "a few".

One point that has bothered me over the years is this: If it was "only a few" why didn't the Watchtower tell them to shut up? I was there (baptized in 1973). Everybody was talking about it, the Society was encouraging, and at no time did any one try to apply the brakes.

Those "few" were DO's, CO's, and elders. Here are a couple of the answers I've gotten over the years regarding 1975:

Father: Sister D was telling everybody Armageddon was coming in 1975. It was her fault.

Brother: The Society hinted once that it could be 1975, and then the news media got ahold of it and blew it out of proportion.

Son-in-law: Our family came into the truth in 1975 and never heard anything about it (they were getting cold feet by then).

    Daughter: It never happened.

Just like every other failure of the WTBTS they are conitioned to accept it as part of Gods plan and testing of obedience. I would like to totally hear a jw view on the generation dogma change. The more I read on the board the more bizarre it sounds, but do need more evidence as to what is being said at the meetings and among the dubbys.
