You can't avoid them but you can choose to not put the elders in a 'difficult' position by just maintaining you are not feeling well (which isn't a lie, it is true you don't feel well about certain attitudes and interpretations). Beyond that you won't go into detail, thank them for their concern, stand up and escort them to the door with the final farewell of "if I (Bane/Botz) feel yall can offer any assistance I will contact yall".

IF they smack you with the 'Do you believe' question .....just say you agree with the Watchtower (which again isn't a lie ... you just probably tend to now agree more with older WTs then newer ones)

Beyond this allow your conscience to guide you in choosing what you do and don't do .....don't rush things, allow the experience of exiting to teach you the things it has to teach.

Hi Bane/Botz! Wow...not sure what to say. I completely relate to your feelings right now; I remember well how it is to have a lightbulb moment. It can be scary, depressing, shocking. But what comes after can be liberating, exhilerating, joyful.

Give yourself a break. You deserve it, but the Org won't grant you one. You have to do this for yourself. Give yourself permission to do research. Give yourself permission to think, to explore, to ask for advice.

Once, when you were regularly posting, I was reading one of your posts and my daughter came up and looked at the screen. She pointed to your avatar and said, "That monster looks like a Christmas tree!" I laughed and replied, "That's not a monster, that's a person." And so you are.

Something has just occurred to me. Botz comes back, apologises and is treated like the prodigal son.

Lets turn the tables and ask what would have happened had he come back to the truth having debated so subversively (i.e. been an apostate)? He'd have to endure a study with an elder to demostrate his true repentance, endure being shunned for the best part of a year by everyone and have a stain on his character for the rest of his life.

Isn't it great to be on a forum where rules of membership allow people to treat each other normally and not have to enforce some vindictive shunning process?

Botz, when I stopped going to meetings I worked really hard and kept busy with hobbies so I had a substitute. The down side was it put my career back on track, I earned lots of money, got some self esteem and had a great time doing things I'd always wanted to do.

How is your wife taking all of this - does she still go to meetings?

I remember reading on of your heated debates back months ago and someone made a response and said, you know, one of these days you will have your eyes opened and when that day comes we will all be here to welcome you. That my friend is how we roll. You wouldn't get that treatment from most 'in' the org today.
