Fishy - still waiting for an answer to a very simple question. Why are you refusing to answer?

You say that it was forbidden to become unclean and deliberately doing so resulted in death.

If an Israelite shepherd found one of his sheep that had died during the night would he be executed for burying it?

If an animal that you are allowed to eat dies...

1 - Anyone who touches its carcass will be unclean till evening.
2 - Anyone who eats some of its carcass must wash their clothes, and they will be unclean till evening.
3 - Anyone who picks up the carcass must wash their clothes, and they will be unclean till evening.

    Leviticus 18

24‘Do not make yourselves unclean by any of these things, for it is by all these things that the nations that I am driving out from before you have made themselves unclean. 25 Therefore, the land is unclean, and I will bring punishment on it for its error,

The law indicates that eating "some of its carcass" ( dead sheep ) results in uncleanness but the law also forbade eating dead animals: "must not eat"

    vs

There was no law against eating an animal found already dead as I proved with the quotes from Lev.11 and Lev.17. cofty

    I already answered your question.

If an Israelite shepherd found one of his sheep that had died during the night would he be executed for burying it?

    No

Fishy you asserted that deliberately doing things that causes uncleanness resulted in death. Burying a dead animal caused uncleanness. Why are you contradicting yourself? .

Having sex with your wife resulted in uncleanness but was not forbidden. Eating dead animals was forbidden.

"You must not have sex with the wife of your fellow man, making yourself unclean" -. Lev 18:20

So why does Lev.17 put eating an animal found already dead in a different category from eating an animal you had killed without bleeding it?

The latter would get you executed; the former meant you had the inconvenience of having a bath and changing your clothes. Clearly this is a crucial point that you need to fit into your theology. Lives of children are at stake.

This is the crux of the argument that you refuse to face up to.

Stop playing games and deal with the big picture honestly.
