LOL!
I had to look it up on wikipedia and piece together a sentence.
"nyam" for "eat" sounded suspiciously like Ñame (yams) which "we" eat a lot in our cuisine.
So I looked it up. Turns out that maybe there is a connection between the verb "nyam" and yams.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ñame
Although it is unclear which came first, the word yam is related to Portuguese inhame or Spanish ñame, which both ultimately derive from the Wolof word nyam, meaning "to sample" or "taste"; in other African languages it can also mean "to eat", e.g. yamyam and doya in Hausa or "to chew" in Dholuo language of the Luo of Kenya and Northern Tanzania.

Jeez, I'm starving right now too. Lunch in another half hour or so. I got these Campbell's Select Harvest soups, and they taste like paper flavored water. Oh, what I wouldn't give for some meatballs right now.
Or so we're told.
