One thing that can be said is that there have been many a man that believed what the belief in the bible could
possibly bring toward themselves.
Not pointing a Finger at any one mind you

No offense taken it just I've heard that retort spoken a hundred times before by devout JWS.
Gravitating Hope from something of substance is valuable to us all, unfortunately when mankind weighs its
hope and deliverance solely from the spiritual world usually the worst appears with regressing and redundant results.

Speaking of regressing and redundant results the newly elected Born Again Governor of Alabama Robert Bentley said 'Only Christians are my Brothers and Sisters' recognizing the Ooopsie a day or two later after aides tapped him on the shoulder he then apologized to the Non-Believers and Jewish communities in Alabama.
A. Fenderson:
Prior to that, I did ask why God chooses to ignore the vast majority of us, and by that I meant essentially: why do some non-believers, such as yourself, have religious experiences that they are quite sure are instances of God contacting them, while the majority of us don't? That seems, for lack of a better term, unfair on God's part.Besides, perhaps God's enigmatic nature is for his amusment and not ours. That sounds like a parent who has two small children and acts very lovingly and caring towards one of them, while acting inconsistently towards the other, for no other reason than to amuse himself. Beyond petty.I have been recently musing over the thought that just because we have been taught that God is pure love doesnt' mean that it's true, does it?It certainly doesn't sound like your version of God is. You seem to have a very unique take on him/her/it, at least in contrast to the general understanding of the universally-accepted qualities of the God of Christianity. Yours sounds far more like the YHWH of old--he was all about helping the chosen ones, at the expense of their neighbors
Well, since I haven't told you what my version of God is, I think that we just found out what your version of God is. And to YOU God sounds more like the YHWH of old.
All I stated was that I was recently musing over the thought that just because we have been taught that God is pure love might not mean that it's true. I haven't reached my decision on that and don't know if I ever will. Not having the answers doesn't bother me. Besides, it is just one of the many questions I have asked myself since I had to disregard everything I was taught and start over from scratch.
Anyway, with all due respect and the acknowledgment that I could be incorrect, it seems to me that you think God is some sort of little bitch just because he isn't doing what you tell him to do. I have a different opinion about God. And I think we are both entitled to our own opinions
I have asked myself questions about God and existence that would probably curl your hair or in the very least you wouldn't approve of.
I don't have much hair to speak of, but I don't think any line of thought or questioning should be disallowed, shunned, or quieted.
Anyway, with all due respect, it seems to me that you think God is some sort of little bitch just because he isn't doing what you tell him to do. I have a different opinion about God. And I think we are both entitled to our own opinions
I don't believe in any diety, and it appears I fell into the trap of assuming far too much about your personal definition of "God," so I thank you for driving that point home to me. There seem to be as many definitions of God as there are believers, hence the impossibility of successfully discussing such matters. I apologize if I've caused any offence.
No apology needed. Also, I realized after I posted that I probably came across as a little snotty and edited my post. So I hope you accept my apology too. I enjoy reading your thoughts and appreciate our conversation.
Just a side thought, A. Federson:
God may be pure love but I didn't find God that way--through love. When I was an atheist, just in case my believing friends were correct, I would daily give God the finger and tell him how much I hated him. Absolutely hated him and would prefer to worship the devil, whom I also did not believe in. I just hated the thought of God and couldnt understand why anybody would believe in such a worthless piece of you know what. That went on for quite some time until one day a peace like I have never known came over me. I wont go into anymore detail about the experience because I don't want to bore you and I don't feel like being roasted by the members of this forum.
ROBDAR --- DO TELL and you will not bore anyone but quite the opposite. WE ALL NEED FAITH, HOPE --- ALL OF THE ABOVE. LOVE READING ABOUT THE PEACE YOU FOUND.
LV101
LV101, thank you for your kind post. Perhaps one day I will talk about the experience on this forum. But since the experience also includes many embarrassing things, I am not ready to post about it and have only told 2 or 3 friends about it throughout the years. Even they were alarmed at first.
However, I do want to encourage everybody to "be real" with God and to not be afraid to tell him exactly how you feel. Dont hold back and feel free to use the most colorful language you feel like using to get your point across. I do believe that God listens. I also believe that sometimes we are able to tune in to this creative spirit and find an answer.
