Gregor I think you are right about Goliath being a throwback to the Nephelim hybrids. I totally forgot that but I kind of remember hearing that also.

This is what I love about this board. As JW's we are spoon fed so much that our minds just cannot take it all in and sift through it all. Everyone once in awhile something will hit us in the face that we know is not true but without anyone to talk to about it we just dismiss it from our thoughts as we are the ones who are crazy.

This board does away with that, as we finally know that others out there were thinking same way we were, we were not crazy the religion is. Gregor you are so right how could Goliath be a throwback if all the none worshipers of Jehovah were killed by him especially the Nephelim?

    Thanks

So, choose for yourself: either heaven is a massive San Francisco bath house, or the story of the flood is just another yarn.

startingover, nice essay! Thanks for sharing it. This is exactly the type of thinking my mind did when I read Genesis. I didn't understand the reasoning behind destroying every living thing if it was just the humans that pissed God off. I assumed angels were above the law (?)

Either way you look at it, it doesn't help the Bible's credibility at all. Right from the get-go, the Bible is full of wackness (face palm) and information that just wasn't interesting for me (so-and-so begat so-and-so... yawn).

But anywho I get the magazine Red Book and I had it on the coffee table, all of a sudden before they get there my husband freaks out because the magazine had a article on sex in it and it was on the cover

Yeah, you should see my Dad suspiciously eyeing up my "Arabian Horse World Quarterly", "Harrowsmith", and "Hobby Farms" magazines. The demons are probably writing those articles on breeding.

He did enjoy reading my "worldly" book "Smitten: A Kitten's Guide to Happiness" by Rachael Hale, though

Well Heaven, if I understand the Bible narrative correctly, demons can no longer materialize in human bodies, but they seem to enjoy controlling animals, or at least swine.

True Christians ought to carefully consider this question before snuggling a kitten: "Could Itty-bitty-kitty really be a demon-possessed pussycat trying to wedge its way between me and the Governing Body of the Faithful Slave?"

The Jewish belief that the NT is dependent on is that the demons are not the angels that sinned but their offspring, the Nephilim who drowned in the Flood. Their bodies died but because they have the immortality of their angelic parentage, they exist as disembodied spirits (unlike the angels, who have bodies). The angels meanwhile were bound and cast into an abyss (Tartarus) where they will remain until Judgment Day while the demons wander the earth in search of new bodies they can inhabit. That is why in the gospels the demons inhabit a herd of swine and then drown themselves, repeating the cycle over again. The Society departs from this first century AD belief and claims that the demons are the fallen angels. Since the NT instead claims that the fallen angels are bound and imprisoned instead of wandering the earth, the Society spiritualizes "Tartarus" as a figurative "spiritual condition" to get around the contradiction.

Thanks, Leolaia. This explains everything about my neighbor with the two pit bulls.
