Give it 40+ seconds and you might see why this video is appropriate. It shows that "Reaching Out" is just part of the dance and is otherwise pointless and a waste of time:
How Many Of You "Reached Out" For Extra "Privileges"?

I did, dear MiniMan (peace to you!) and so was always first up for toilet duty at the assemblies. I recently realized, though, that I may have had a selfish ulterior motive: doing dootie duty helped keep me awake © (all puns intended). I sometimes dreaded when the loo was all clean and the announcement came for folks to take their seats. Sigh... dang...
Peace!

My brother, after over 20 years, got reappointed as an elder. From what I heard he was shocked, as he stopped "reaching out" years ago.

Yes, I reached out for free labor extra privileges as a faithful J-dub.

Yes, it's a privilege to clean the toilets.

Actually no... on many occasions I was mysteriously volunteered for stuff. Even at the beginning, I never really joined the TMS.. I just ended up on the schedule one day because somebody thought I was "ready". It ticked me off somewhat...

Mustard - I've had similar things happen to me. It's strange how they act like they are "doing you a favor" or "hooking you up" then you find out that they just don't want to do it themselves so they figured they'd just dump it on you.
Well, if it's such a privilige, then I wouldn't be showing "brotherly love" by denying you of it!

Not to cast aspersions on your brother, but could you not conclude from this that this is further evidence that they're getting desperate for elders?
