I agree with undercover. Nowadays they will appoint any swinging dick in the field. Pulse? check. Scrotum? check. Read the Bible? No, but that's okay. Any experience with couseling? No, it's not necessary. Appointment approved!
How Many Of You "Reached Out" For Extra "Privileges"?

Sure, I "reached out". Without a title there's no social life in the JWs. If a man is a JW for years and never has a title he's treated like complete shit by everyone. Since I never got a title I never had a social life. It bothered me at first, but soon I got used to it and stopped "reaching out". Eventually I preferred it. I focused on my career and snoozed through the meetings. That's when the elders really got pissed, because they couldn't hurt me anymore. The more they ignored me the happier I was. When they took away my "privileges" I told them they could take the BS out of my house too. Bonus!
Elders are fundamentally stupid and are unable to make a connection between a cause and effect. When an investment performs badly, you pull it out and invest elsewhere. I wasn't prepared to invest anymore of myself.

Wow Mr. Falcon was right on as far as how I feel. Look at this waste of time....
No this was not posted out of pride or baggery, just feel awful for the waste and loss of time on more important matters than this tripe....
And yet perhaps a few people were helped in one way or another.

Mr. Falcon
my resume is similar. And like itsybitsybrainbutbigenoughtosmellarat, I'm not trying to brag. It's a tad embarrassing. Especially when you factor in that there is NO paycheck for all this.

Damn this makes me glad I never got that MS appointment, reason being is because I didn't do the steady 10+ hours a month in service. Was on the school, commented, helped with mags/territories/accounts/cleaned poo poo/aux pioneered couple times but my service was too up and down for them I look back at it fondly now but it did bother me to an extent back then, I thought it was a fundemantal failing on my part for not enjoying and doing more service. I hated the service, but that is the main way people get appointed, via numbers.

What privileges! The only privileges a woman gets ia by association with her husband.
I know of a brother who had been an MS for 10 years and no closer to an eldership...so his wife quit her lucrative full-time job and regular pioneered for 2 years until hubbie was appointed an elder. She quit pioneering and went back to her lucrative job, now triumphantly an elder's wife (not me BTW).

I never actually reached out for extra "privileges(??)"--I was assigned them. Things like standing behind the rag counter. And, they tried having me washing fruit before an a$$embly, totally behind the scenes. They were determined that I was not going to mix with the opposite sex, no matter what--under the guise of becoming an assistant hounder.
Then they wonder why I didn't do anything for them at all. They wonder why I began dogging my assignments, including handing out talk slips late on purpose or blowing off my talks. I wouldn't even want to show up at all--eventually, I didn't. And I didn't give a fxxx when they took my assignments away because I kept dogging them.

I used to volunteer for kitchen duty to keep my butt off the benches at arsemblies. Does that count?

Yes, having rather felt compelled to (I know - bloody fool!).
As others have noted, the "reaching out" phase was not too bad. What followed afterwards was another story - and after making ministerial servant, I lost any interest in becoming an elder.
