Sorry, beks. Your link is nothing more than a history of abortion and how the practice was done in the past. I stand by what I said regarding the social climate of the times and its influence on the acceptance needed by society to put it into law.

Burn and JO you kids are a hoot. Romantic notions of little babies that you will never see get your self righteous juices flowing, but heaven forbid the guy down the street needs medical care and you just MIGHT have to put a nickle in for it.

I may be a hoot to you, Beks, but you are a riot! I put plenty of nickles in, dear, believe me. Some come right out by way of taxes and are spent at the whim of the politicians, and some are sent voluntarily by my own volition. Judge not, woman. Talk about self-righteous! When is the last time you looked in the mirror?

And while we're on that subject, ABSOLUTELY UNEQUIVOCABLY NO when it comes to federal tax dollars getting spent on abortions.

It's been 35 years since federal funding was banned, you can relax now.

I sure wish I could keep my tax dollars from supporting immoral wars and oil company subsidies......................

Abortion is funded by Obamacare, and is only held back by the fig leaf of an executive order.

A ban is currently in legislation.

And yes, the thought of the wholesale slaughter of millions of little lives that cannot speak in their own defense, even if I never get to see them, does get my juices flowing.

The healthcare bomb brought the subject up again for discussion, beks. Thankfully there were those on top of it to nip it in the proverbial bud.

I know, mrsjones, it can get boring. I suggest you change channels from the tennis match to something more exciting, like curling.

    How? Where?

The Stupak amendment, which explicitly prevented federal funding of abortions got struck out of the final version of Obamacare.

Obama signed an executive order banning it in order to get enough votes, but, soon after it passed, Sebelius went about ignoring it. Wink, wink. Nudge, nudge.

It gets funded through the high risk pools and other ways:

Here is Rahm Emanuel on it a few days ago.

Carol Moseley Braun: …Stupak-Pitts took from women in the new health plan the right to choose, or at least to have it covered…. You wound up being the person tagged with making that, quote, compromise happen….

Rahm Emanuel: …That is a fair question, and I’ll explain it. President Obama was determined to get his healthcare bill passed. There were 14 votes that were holding up , and my job as chief-of-staff was to help the president get – after a hundred years of waiting for comprehensive reform of healthcare – to help him get that legislation.

Carol Moseley-Braun: And so you threw women under the bus?

Rahm Emanuel: And it was hanging in balance by 14 votes. I came up with an idea for an executive order to allow the Stupak Amendment not to exist by law but by executive order, and it was good enough that Nancy Pelosi, Jan Schakowsky – here in Chicago, Rosa DeLauro, Anna Eshoo – a number of women who are held – Nita Lowey – who are held up as honors by people like NARAL and Planned Parenthood, who supported that bill and supported the way to make progress.
