    Sorry for your terrible loss.

Trust me on one thing: Get another dog as soon as possible. You will be amazed at how it eases the pain.

It's too bad the vet didn't recognise the symptoms of blockage. Time was of the essence. My dog Bear was killed by my icky druggie neighbor's Pitt Bull that dug under my fence to kill my dog. It took 3 yrs to stop crying over that. Lost my newfie last July had a enlarged spleen with a tumor on it. I think that your puppy will help and getting him into weekly training RIGHT AWAY will help both you and your wife while socializing your dog. Your other dog will get used to this pup. Like everyone says. Time. I am soo sorry.

Love. If we did not love, we would not grieve. Crying releases chemicals that help calm us. This song is about a dog named Shannon who was washed away to sea. It was popular the spring my brother died. It helped me cry at the time and it still helps me cry for him all these many years and decades later. Maybe it will help you. "Maybe she'll find an island with a shady tree, just like the one in our backyard."

There's nothing but time that will help heal the pain you feel at losing a much loved pet. It's lousy when they die because they're a member of the family and it hurts. Remember that your pet had a good life with you and was happy. That won't bring them back, but it can help you and your wife through this.

Losing a beloved pet is always difficult. We shouldn't underestimate the bond that can form between human and animal, and the heartache that occurs when that bond is broken.

Animals give love unconditionally. In that respect, we often value their friendship to the same degree (or even greater in degree) than human friendships. It's not that we place animal life above human life in value, as many people mistakenly believe that animal lovers do. It's just a fact that in many cases, the bond can be just as close, if not closer, between a human and a pet because of the unconditional nature of that love.

Naturally then, when that bond is broken, there is a feeling of deep sorrow. Your pain is understood and appreciated. In time, the wound does heal, but it's a grieving process.

Yes, aquagirl, sometimes a cat or other animal who needs a loving home can help us to move on with our lives.
