I still mourn for my spunky, outrageous Rascal, a miniature smooth hair fox terrier. We were unable to have any dogs b/c my father kicked them in the head down stairs. When he died, my sister was rewarded with a dog. I loved Rascal so much. Later, I became ill while practicing at a large Wall St. law firm. Her unconditional love was a beacon.
Dogs don't have long lives in the wild. I hope he found the corn cob yummy in the tummy for his last meal. Poor dog. Poor you.
Someone told me about Rainbow Bridge. I googled it. Rainbow Bridge is a place where deceased pets go to wait for their humans until the humans and pets go to heaven. The separation is short altho it may seem very long. Rainbow Bridge has many bones and smelly things. Lot of green grass and even carpeting. Lots of fine wooden furniture to scratch. There are cats to chase. Large dogs are present for small dogs to flirt with and b/c there humans are not present, they hide behind angels at the last moment.
C.S. Lewis in Mere Christianity remarks that as Christ saves humans, humans may save dogs. Heaven must include our beloved dogs.
You will always grieve your dog and remember how awesome your dog was. Soon, you will be ready to teach a new dog about the adventures of your deceased companion.
