Heck, Why Stop At One?

Cmdr. Locke: "Godammit, Morpheus. Not everybody believes what you believe!"

Morpheus: "My beliefs do not require them to."

Platitude - trite, meaningless, biased, or prosaic statement, often presented as if it were significant and original.

    Another good quote:

"I'm not convinced that faith can move mountains, but I've seen what it can do to skyscrapers." - William Gascoyne

Cypher: You know, I know this steak doesn't exist. I know that when I put it in my mouth, the Matrix is telling my brain that it is juicy and delicious. After nine years, you know what I realize?

    [Takes a bite of steak]
    Cypher: Ignorance is bliss.

I like that Cypher one too, CJ. People choose to live in their own fantasies, and allow themselves to be fooled, because they feel better... whatever your flavor of fantasy might be.

SBC - I think religion mixed with politics is one of the most dangerous (and ambitious) phenomena out there.

TEC - you read way more into my post than I said - not one part of it was remotely directed at you. Sorry if you took it so. I dig your sweet-to-everyone style. I never question anyone's right to be here. I criticize myself most of all for the amount of time I even spend here.

Didn't completely realize you were not a JW at some point in your life. If I was making a subconscious point about anyone, it would have been ones like Chalam that seem to fall into the crazy-Christian-never-was-a-JW-but-likes-to-cherry-pick-the-bible and pounce on leaving JWs. I explained that I don't understand such ones desire to be here, but never questioned their right to be here.

Anyway do what you gotta do. Hope you don't lose your grip on reality though - cause AG may think she's the oracle - but that's a fantasy too.

    Hey Shelby,

Did you notice the license plates in the movies? They're all scriptural references. ---Might be amusing to you.

Also - I should probably qualify my critique on high count posters- some of them are priceless with incredible amounts of quality content. I just find it mind-numbing to see the ones that repeat over and over the same defense of the same imaginary friends or throw out scripture after scripture with no evidence of the scriptures being relevant, much less from any supernatural god.

I also know many more who are awesome high posters, grounded in reality, and have great lives outside JWN and are way more balanced than myself with less addictive personalities.

JIFB - thank you for explaining. I do truly appreciate that. I read you wrong a lot, I think, (sort of the way you read Shelby wrong - and no, I could not resist saying that, ,because I know her, and she is not as you judge her to be... she also has a great life outside of JWN, with a family, friends, and career; and she has strong faith in addition to these things).

As for Stephen (Chalam), you might like to know that he is gone from the board, to concentrate more deeply on his family. He acted in compassion for others while he was here - which drew him here to begin with - and I am sure that he will continue to act the same in his life.

TD - I did not know that about the matrix, and so I will watch for that next time I watch the movie too. I'm interested to see which scriptures they put in the movie :)

I so agree with your sentiments.

TEC, thanks for explaining. I hope you see beyond christ one day, holy spirit can do this

Greetings, dear TD, and peace to you! No, I did not catch that but will look for it the next time I watch the trilogy (about 3-5 years will probably be the soonest; I don't usually do reruns but hadn't seen the "Revisited" movie, which prompted me to watch them all again). I loved the flicks because I'm kind of a comic book addict (well, was when I was much younger). The series fascinated me not only because of its innuendo and metaphor, but I love its originality (in filming). They did a lot of things that hadn't been done in film before. Ennywho, thanks for the heads-up.

Dearest, dear Tams, thank you... and the greatest of love and peace to you!

Dear JIFB... peace to you. I just want to say that folks like you are just as curious (and questionable) an anomaly to me as I am to you. I mean, I started this post. My avatar is there for all to see. Although not quite in my usual style, it pretty much fell along the lines of what I usually post (i.e., things pertaining to faith, etc.). Nothing new under the sun... or from me, technically. Yet... you not only had to open the thread... read the contents... but comment, as well.

I can only say that perhaps we're more alike than you know. I.e., it takes one... to know one. Perhaps you ought to spend your time considering why you MUST bother... even open a thread started by a [delusional] person, let alone read it... let alone comment to it... if you really believe they ARE delusional? If they are as you say, what in the WORLD makes you think they're going to listen to YOU?

Again, interesting. But I have an even more interesting theory, dear one, one I believe is closer to the TRUTH, and that is that, contrary to what you and those like you want everyone to THINK... you're looking for "something", too.

Well, let me help you out, dear one: it's not a thing. It's a WHO. And he ain't "on" JWN. I am merely his servant...

    Again, peace to you all!

A slave of Christ, even if delusional, which is my prerogative, isn't it... and so others opinions about it are worth, what...
