I thought it was interesting that the passages in Leviticus instructing the Israelites to abstain from eating blood because it belonged to Jehovah and was to be offered to him in sacrifices (Leviticus 7:26) were immediately preceded by instructions to abstain from eating fat for the very same reason.
And Jehovah continued to speak to Moses, saying: "Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, 'YOU must not eat any fat of a bull or a young ram or a goat. Now the fat of a body [already] dead and the fat of an animal torn to pieces may be used for anything else conceivable, but YOU must not eat it at all. For anyone eating fat from the beast from which he presents it as an offering made by fire to Jehovah, the soul that eats must be cut off from his people.
"'And YOU must not eat any blood in any places where YOU dwell, whether that of fowl or that of beast. Any soul who eats any blood, that soul must be cut off from his people.'" ~ Leviticus 7:22-27 NWT
The WTS puts so much emphasis on abstaining from blood, but the OT places equal weight on abstaining from fat for its sacrificial value, which is not required of JWs at all.
