Truth is not a rigid set of beliefs.

Once we think we possess the truth,

We close our mind to other possibilities,

In that moment we have suddenly,

Lost our connection with the infinite.

    WOW. WHY? Just WOW!

The number one JW trait I am trying to get away from is being painfully aware of other peoples flaws.

I see what you're talking about sometimes as well. But not necessarily concerning these different flavors of Christianity. Because that's just a surface thing, imo. Its the deeper attitude/intolerance of other peoples views that says:

"I have it right. I found the truth, and anyone who didn't find what I've found is wrongbecause (insert reason here)."

This attitude is not limited to the believers on this board.

We know that attitude is not limited to the believers on this board.

AKJ- is identifying characteristics of former Christian JW. Why are they that way? Can you look at the question without bringing up what others in different belief systems do.

Care to elaborate just a little?

JWs teach that the "vast majority" of everyone on earth are "flawed". When you are raised to view people this way our minds needs to justify such a drastic position. The way JWs justify it is to systematically dismantel them and expose them for "what they truly are", they do this by finding "evidence".

If you hang around a JW for a day you will start to hear their incessant negative observations about the world around them. Their language is usually along the lines of "People are too ____, if they just lived their lives the way I do they would be better for it." At least that's the premise of their observations and some go into more detail as to why the people of the world are so lost.

JWs are chronically negative and it's a bad habbit that can persit even beyond our exit. Jeff's OP is case and point, imo. Not to say I don't do the same thing at times.

I have some christian friends who feel sorry for me because the JWs ruined christianity for me.
But christianity did that all by itself.

Me too. Jw's didn't invent either the ideas nor the particular approach to 'faith' they live by - all borrowed from mainstream Christianity about 120 years back. I agree.

    AK-JEFF:

I have noticed that some ex-JWs now belong to a church. I won't judge them but I can certainly say it is not for me. Being in the JWs cured me of the desire to ever again get involved with another religion/church.

A story similar to the JWs would repeat itself in some form or another and I have no patience for this nonsense.
