The stories surrounding George Washington is the example I was going to bring up, along with other stories about the early days of the US. Davey Crockett probably did not kill a bear with a knife. (In fact Crockett had what would today be called a great PR machine going for him). Most of what we think we know about the Declaration of Independence and the Constitutional Convention is wrong in detail, but the stories illustrate what we think of ourselves.

dear jam...
"What spirtual message can one receive from this story."
the pharisee's should have believed it was possible for a lowly sheperd to become a great king...but they would have nothing of the sort when Jesus the lowly carpenter came into their midst.

thanks jam .
I was just thinking about that yesterday. and wondering why the majority of the pharisees weren't accepting of Jesus on some level...I suppose it was fear/mistrust of each other (?) because nicodemus went to Jesus under cover of night. john 3:1-2
