It's all magic, Terry. Whatever logic you lay down will be dismissed with "it's magic and spirit fluffiness".
Question of the Day: Why are so very few of Jesus ACTUAL WORDS...

I hear what you are saying, Tammy, about the love thing and what Terry says makes sense too.
Is this love thing strictly restricted to Christianity? If so, then what about buddhists?
I think about the idea that we must believe in Christ to be saved. Does believing in Christ mean we must believe in the man, Jesus, or in His ways? This is an important question for me.

For ANY of the Christian belief system to have meaning beyond a tingly feeling we have to accept an unprovable premise.
What is that premise?
That man is utterly worthless from birth and must accept a rescue plan which involves capital punishment of a Jewish carpenter back in the
Roman Empire.
A supernatural carpenter fathered by a Ghost, mind you!

No, Gary, I don't think so at all.
Remember the quote about those people who did not have the law, but yet followed the law naturally; thereby showing that the law was already written on their hearts?
Also there is this to consider:
There is the bridegroom (Christ), the bride (those who belong to Christ, the ones who are taken up with him when he returns), and there are also the guests invited to the wedding feast (the sheep who are granted entry into the kingdom prepared for them since the beginning, those who might not have believed in Christ per say, but who showed the love of Him and did good to those who belong to Him - the ones who have the law written on their hearts).

Hey--we stopped speaking on Topic!
I'm interested in hearing people's ideas about WHY we don't have all of JESUS' ACTUAL WORDS quoted
as we already do for a very few instances. Why THOSE instances?

Oh noooss. We've never done that before ;)

Most of the time when we relay something someone taught to us, we say "so and so thinks this... or so and so says this..." It isn't usually, I was speaking to so and so the other day, and he said "insert exact quote here". Sometimes we do that, and sometimes not.
Who could possibly remember every exact quote someone else said?
Those couple of instances that you quoted were small, and powerful. So perhaps the best way to relay that is by using them in the original language they were spoken, and then translating them. To emphasize that those were His exact words; and to relay the emotion behind them by allowing the listener/reader to get 'inside Jesus' head' for a moment.
There's an idea anyway.

Pssst, Tammy....I think you've hit on something important here.
You have demonstrated that the Apostles did NOT THINK JESUS WAS GOD.
He was a very charismatic friend and religious mentor. No point in memorizing his exact words!

I'm not sure how?
Memorizing and learning are two very different things. Which do you think is better?

The Jews were memorizers. Look at what Josephus was able to recite! Jews by and large were not writers. Few were able to, actually.
It was not at all unusual for people in tribes to memorize entire histories.
The stories of HOMER were oral tales passed down from generation to generation.
I've memorized Pi to one hundred decimal places and so has my daughter and son. It is easy if you just open yourself up to it.

Then maybe what they wrote about Christ and what He said has some worth, after all.
