Are you allowed to put youtube videos up without contacting all the people represented in them? For instance, its not me, but one lady I know on that conference call and I am sure she would not want her voice used or her comments being put on youtube. Yes we all know Rick is recording the conferences for his six screens website because he informs us of it before hand. And most people decide not to talk on the call for that reason. But as far as I know, niether she nor any of the other commentors were contacted and told this call would be used for another purpose. I am curious as to how youtube will feel about that if this person decides to make a complaint?
Rick's show is for public consumption, free of charge. Callers only gave first names and their anonymity is in their own hands once they press *1 or whatever. You do not need permission from those participating if you are using clips, sound bites, etc for the purpose of criticism and commentary, teaching, satire, etc. under Fair Use Law.
If your perspective is correct, then the WTBTS Inc could rightly sue Rick or any of us for reposting their copyrighted literature, etc., in videos and on the web.
We still have freedom of speech in the US.
If people are going to go public and say stuff, others are going to go public and say other stuff. Such is life.

I am going to look this up. Because as far as I know, the people on six screens conference call gave Rick permission to tape them but they did not give permission to anyone else. With the fair use act, does this include someone Voice?? Not sure about that. I thought it was only for printed materials. But I could be wrong.
I will find out because if that is the case, I will not be allowing anyone to record me anymore for any reason. And its a shame too because I found a lot of fellowship on the conference calls. I will still listen but will not speak if my comments are going to be put on youtube. I don't care who knows its me, I KNOW its me. And that is NOT my intention to be on anything else but the six screens website.
Don't you see what all these arguements accomplish is that they alienate people further. You say in your first video the posters on this board are fair minded to others and knock Rick for not being so. But, is this really true? How have Christians in general been treated on this board? With an open mind? With exceptance? If I had a nickel for each time I was called demented, stupid or childish for my beliefs, by someone on this board, I would be rich!
I think all these forums serve a purpose and to each one his own. At least we are out of the WT and can express our opinions. But now instead of attacking people "in the world", We are attacking each other (former jws). I see men never learn, do they? Peace, Lilly

Wow, Publishing Cult, I've never seen such a slam dunk on Rick's bunk. CAn't say that I disagreed with anything you said. ;)
It appears to me that the only people that actually listen to him are (generally, but not always) A) Never been a JW but other half, other siblings, or what have you are christian fundumbmentalists B) Left Jehovahs Witnesses and became christian fundumbmentalists. Experiences may vary.
Someone who focuses so much attention on negativity and hatred is just plain sad. Replace, repeat. :'(

I don't think you are childish or stupid. Each person has the right to their own beliefs. I don't believe in God and I certainly don't cram it down anyone's throat. Seems you also are guilty of globally labelling people. Said with love. :)
If you choose to have yourself taped on the net, everyone can listen to it, and rebroadcast it. It's not copyright. Just like everything I have ever typed out is easily searchable here.

Credit was clearly given, and I do not need consent for material like this, not as long as I reasonably go by the guidelines of Fair Use Law.
Look it up.
Otherwise, like I said, the WTBTS would sue Fearon, Me, Freeminds, and anyone else reposting their material, public talks, video clip from WT propaganda vids, etc.

I am not labeling everyone on jwn. There are some really open minded people here that are varying beleifs. But collectively the majority of the views are usually anti-God and anti-Christian. You cannot deny that. I've experienced this many times. Believe me I am no longer a fundamentalist and am very fair minded with others. I don't preach at anyone not interested in christianity. But at the same time, if someone has a bible question or one about Christianity and I give the mainstream view as a christian, I am usually called stupid for my opinion.
Look, I am one that feels this way. If someone wants to learn about Chrisitianity, I feel they should ask a Christian. Because If I want to learn about Judaism, I will ask a Jew. Now, IF I ask a Jew and he tells me why he believes what he does, and interprets HIS holy book for me, as a Christian, can I tell him he is stupid because he has the wrong view? Would that make sense? .
I do not agree with all Rick Fearons views, So I did not appreciate in any way being labeled as a crazy, one flew over the cuckoos nest follower. How is that open minded? And before someone says that is not true, go back and view those videos. I follow the six screens so that defamatory remark includes me.
Anyway, I contacted youtube and am waiting for a reply. Because I really would hate to not be able to participate in the conference calls. Especially the ones about child abuse. But I will not have my voice recorded for any other purpose except for either the Six Screens website or the Upper Room Ministry.

I'm sorry you feel that way, lovelyill. I see only a small community of nitwits that circle people who still believe in god and belittle them. This place is enormous, and the threads have only a few that do that - the same ones all the time, usually.
You should certainly expect hatred of any Christianity from anyone leaving Jehovahs Witnesses. It is a part of the grieving process, as I'm sure you are aware. Sooner than later people grow up and see that global labelling is a real flaw, and they abandon it. ;) So on behalf of the people who are grieving and angry at god and throw that anger on you, I apologize. From an ex-self-righteous atheist. ;)

You'd apply to have my freedom of speech revoked just so that you can exercise yours without fear of criticism.

I am not trying to get your freedom of speech revoked in any way. I don't understand how these things on the web work. So I want to make sure I am protected and my voice or name is not going to be out on youtube, that is all. I am not represented in your videos. Its just that I do sometimes join the six screens calls and if at any time what I say can be used for any other purpose but for Rick Fearons groups, then I would like to know so that I do not allow that to happen.
