This site is really just a market-place for ideas. People are joining up and leaving all the time. It has taken me a year to get used to this forum- a sometimes scary place!

    Good luck to you Murray.

    Well,I wish you the best.

I'm not a popular poster here, but it's the only place I can speak freely about the religion. I have made a couple a friends here, but I never thought of it as a social club. But, just like at the hall,I prefer to stay a bit in the background and keep a low-profile.

But,everyone has to do what works best for them.

When I first signed on here,a couple regular posters signed off pretty much for good in order to be able to get on with their lives. And I really didn't understand at the time, but now I do. I'm hoping one day soon, there will come a time, when days go by and I don't think about the Watchtower, the Witnesses,or the end of the world. It would be so freeing and I am envious of those who have reached that point in their journey.

But,again,I wish you the best. But,please don't feel this has to be an all or nothing place. Come back every once in awhile and visit at least. You don't have to live here, that's rather unhealthy anyway.

I have found that this site is a bit "cliquey" ... groups of posters frequent at similar times and enjoy their familiarity with each other and that's great ... but they also sometimes exhibit a coolness toward those outside their clique

So it's cool to be a clique, but not to act like one? Cliques are human nature although frustrating.

    I wish you well,

Geez, and you seem to be one of the more normal ones! There are clashes and cliques no matter where you go. So leave if you must, but don't be surprised if you find the same problems elsewhere. At least you won't be shunned if you come back.

I don't understand the need for these grand dramatic exits from a discussion board. There are all kinds of personalities here, as there are on any db. Overall it's the best x-jw forum on the net. Why? It happens to be the most liberal and least suppressed. I know, because I've been around a few.... you're a good guy, so why burn bridges? Just take a break and come back once in a while when you're in the mood....

Best wishes Murray. I tend to agree with the 'love bombing' that goes on here at first that later fades. That may be just a common thing as people are getting to know the 'newbies' and all.

There exists the provision for Personal Messaging which is frequently hybridised with cryptic public expression ... a bit like 'gossip' ... my old religion was notorious for that

I can answer that one since there was a topic asking me to read my pm's today. Maybe you didn't know this but there is currently no way to know when a message is in the box for you. That box up there doesn't light up or turn a different color so the only way someone can tell you that they left a pm for you is to alert you by a topic. The pm I got today wasn't gossip. The person who sent it wanted to talk to me, not the whole board. If you have a problem with folks here receiving personal messages on this board then you may be right, maybe this board isn't for you.

I hate to see you go. Cliques, dislikes and personality clashes are just a part of any social structure. I've enjoyed your presence on the board and hope you will re-examine your decision leave. Either way, I wish you the best.
