Quick Question (or two, or three)...

It is just a word. Because it means so many things to so many people that for the sake of clarity I try not to use it.

If my arm was twisted I might say I am "more spiritual" now than I was as a JW. By that I would mean that I feel a deeper connection to the universe and all things within it. It is hard to say, though. The Way that can be spoken is not the true Way.

I doubt this is making sense to many people. If you "get it" though, I thank you for grokking in fullness.

I think what you might be describing is the point where your brain can not process any more information. When you meditate on life questions and really try to make sense of things your brain can not come up with an answer. Your brain is trying to use everything it has, even emotions. When your brain uses logic and emotion that's what I think people try to describe as "spiritual".

    That's my theory.

    Jehovah's Witnesses are religious.

    The Dalai Lama is spiritual.

The former talks the talk. The latter walks the walk.

Greetings, dear Daddy-O... and welcome back! The greatest of love and peace to you! Yes, I understand what you mean by walking the walk.

To the rest (peace to you!), I guess my direction was trying to understand the meaning of the word "spiritual"... which, as I stated, derives from the word "spirit". And I do agree that one does not have to believe in God to believe in spirits, dear - peace to you! However, foolish thing that I am, I guess I can't quite grasp how one can be "spiritUAL"... and/or believe in that which is "spiritUAL"... if one doesn't believe in the spirit (or spirits). I mean, no matter how one defines it, it seems to ME that "it" is obviously something that is different... and separate... from the physical beings that we are.

Yet, according to some, it is the physical being only that is real, that is communicable with, that speaks and can be spoken to. But, given the responses/explanations/definitions, that doesn't seem to be the case. It just doesn't make sense to me.

But... thank you all for your responses and, again, peace to you!

Experincing the spiritual, with out God, is simple. Sitting back, or laying back, you close out the world around you. If you could it would be like setteling on a cloud, all the worlds noise, blarring and din shut out, floating to and fro, at rest, peacful, while recharging your batteries. No arguing with others, no running back and forth. Just you and yourself, best I can explain it.
