Paradise eternally on Earth - it is not Biblical, not scientific and a simple concept based on the idea that Adam was never told what would happen if he did not sin. -jwfacts

Actually, this one ain't so simple for the anointed. I always wondered how anointed probably feel left out when they see an entire article devoted to the "earthly hope".

Alas, for the average Dub, it's so easy to feed into it.

Although, I do have to say that paradise earth does appear to be Biblical, just not necessarily the JW version.

    prodigal son:

Actually, the Snakes in the Tower don't seem to care about murder, or even serial killers. After all, we need to have mercy on them. But smoke a joint? Now that's worthy of a one-way ticket to Gehenna.

haaaay... wait a minute... what you talking about me that way for?... oh wait, my screen name is a) because I thought the GB are snakes in the tower and b) they would probably have thought me to be a snake in their tower back when I was still an elder but coming to JWD... lol ... never mind.

just kidding... and good points JWFacts.. . my JW mother, a JW since 1970... 40 years, sh*t.... couldn't explain anything without a WT publication and/or the WT CD ROM now.

WT, et al has dumbed down an already dumbed down doctrine. Why do people stay in it?

Thanks for all the comments. There have been too many great comments whilst I was sleeping to refer to all of you. A couple worth mentioning.

James_woods - We had a thread a couple of days ago - "Do JWs still believe in 1914"?

That thread is what got me thinking about this topic. The ignorant apologist responses shocked me, how can intelligent comments on a subject be so easily dismissed, glossed over or misunderstood?

Prodigal Son - that is an amazing letter from Bethel. The whole subject of disfellowshipping seems to be back to front.

Fatboyslim - I think that Watchtower doctrine has always been simple, but as you point out, it was wrapped up in very complex argumentation that JWs actually bothered to learn and recite. But peal off Franz's flowery rhetoric and the core teachings were basic, black and white doctrine that did not cater for the nuances of the Bible. They have always been a religion that used eisegisis as much as exegesic to form their arguments. Now they don't bother to try to justify the doctrine.

The latest study books state doctrine with absolute minimum of reasoning to support it. There are so many comments to trust the Governing Body, that the followers that remain, or join these days, accept anything stated in the Watchtower at face value.
