It's ego music. Human animals need to identify w the alpha figures - gods (only omnipotent ones), idols, people who exude cool authority, etc. Interesting that dylan is lumped in w springstein. I couldn't 'get' him, iether. He was also one who was very good at divining the the direction the social wind was blowing and cashing in on it, kind of like a 'leader' who looks for a crowd to lead ( al gore, anyone??). Interesting also, that when i was a young jw, my jw friend at the time was seriously into dylan, had his poster up on his wall, etc. That firend, i realized much later, was a controller, a control freak. He went far and high in the wt ranks.

Also hate Metallica. Not a fan of Pink Floyd. Guys are brillant, but the music doesn't appeal to me.
Love AC/DC. They may only have 3 chords, but the only band that can rock with bagpipes.

I remember when What's the Story(Morning Glory)? came out. He was so pompous and pretentious. I can't believe I actually had that album at one time.
Zevon was a much better songwriter.
