    TO ALL BODIES OF ELDERS

    Re: Letters of introduction

    Dear Brothers:

Much fine direction on the subject of letters of introduction has been included in the Shepherding textbook. For example, paragraphs 30 and 31 of chapter 3 deal with letters of introduction when elders and ministerial servants move. Paragraph 22 of chapter 7 deals with letters of introduction when a publisher with judicial restrictions moves. Paragraph 2 of chapter 10 deals with what should be sent when a disfellowshipped or disassociated person moves. And paragraphs 20 and 21 of chapter 12 provide updated direction on leuers of introduction when a known child molester or an accused child molester moves. Thus, the July 1, 2006, letter to all bodies of elders regarding letters of introduction should be removed from the congregation permancnt file of policy letters and be destroyed. However, please note the following additional points that are not included in the Shepherding textbook.

Format: A letter of introduction should always contain the following information: (I) the date of the letter, (2) the previous congregation's full name and complete mailing address, (3) the new congregation's full name and complete mailing address, and (4) signatures of the Congregation
Service Committee, with their names typed or printed underneath their signatures. (be pp. 71-73) Some also find it helpful to use a regarding line (as shown above) so that the recipient may easily identify the purpose of the letter.

Congregation publisber: When a publisher (active or inactive) moves to another congregation, a letter of introduction and the Congregation 's Publisher Record (S-21) cards should be promptly sent to the congregation where the publisher moved. (The last record card of an inactive
publisher should be retained indefinitely by the congregation where the publisher moved.) If the previous service committee knows where the publisher moved, they may take the initiative and send these items without waiting for a formal request from the new congregation. What information should be conveyed in the letter of introduction? Ask yourself: What information would we want to receive if this person were moving into our congregation? (Matt. 7: 12) Clearly state the publisher's full name, the names of any immediate family members. and any privileges
the publisher or his family members have enjoyed, such as assignments on the Theocratic Ministry School, working with the Regional Building Committee, auxiliary pioneer service, and so forth. These elements should be included in all letters of introduction. If the person was reproved
in the distant past but is not presently under restrictions, there may be no need to mention past judicial action unless the offense involved child molestation, adulterous marriage, or some other notorious wrongdoing.

Regular pioneer: In addition to the information previously described for a congregation publisher, the letter of introduction for a regular pioneer should clearly state whether the pioneer is recommended to continue serving as such.- See Index to Letters- For Bodies of Elders (S-22) for
current direction on how to inform the branch office of the reappointment of a regular pioneer.

Each elder should make the following notation next to the penultimate bullet in paragraph 16 of chapter 2 in the Shepherding textbook: "See letter dated November 17, 2010, regarding letters of introduction."

Carefully following these guidelines will help you to protect the flock and to render needed spiritual assistance to Jehovah's precious sheep, We pray that Jehovah will continue to "give you peace constantly in every way" as you faithfully serve him in these last days. -2 Thess. 3:16.

    Your brothers,
    Christian Congregation
    of Jehovah's Witnesses

    cc: Traveling overseers

    PS to Secretary

This letter should be retained in the congregation permanent file of policy letters, You may wish to update the congregation copy of Index to Letter- For Bodies of Elders at this time as well.

Here is the thread where we previous discussed this matter: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/watchtower/beliefs/204902/1/BOE-LTR-PDF-Nov-17-Notation-made-to-ks10

I too served as a Secretary for a time....but the WT Conductor for much longer.

    Its NOT difficult to fade.

Hell......look up an address for a KH in Chicago and have your cards sent there. The current rules are that they aren't supposed to wait; just send them. They will send the cards to the address......you will never show......they will never follow up with the old congregation (even if they did, the elders won't know what to say).........and (((POOOOOOOFFFF))))) you're gone.

FYI.....I did this myself. Left the congregation, went to one across town, stopped going, the secretary called and I told him I'm attending another congregation, he sent my cards to that KH and I've NEVER attended. They asked my mother about me once and she said "leave him alone".......and (((POOOOOOFFFFFFFF)))) ..........I was gone.

I will admit that they are a bit 'afraid' of me....... I was a "big shot elder" (I know...RIDICULOUS)....so I 'know' a lot of their dirty laundry. They just leave me alone.

I was born and raised, baptized, same congregation my whole life...blah blah blah and all I can say is...What the...? Is this for real? I've been out for almost 20 years, so maybe I don't know the deal but really? I didn't move...I just stopped going. Yes I had one lady who stalked me but other than family that was about it...........Oh that's right, for some reason I never met their expectations no matter how hard I tried and tried and tried (and yes I really did try...HARD to please these a**holes) I don't recall one elder ever trying to contact me and try to get me to come back. This is ridiculous. You should read aloud, record and then listen to yourself. You sound like someone going into the witness protection program (no pun intended ) Maybe I'm just jealous.....but REALLY??? you would go to this much trouble? Just leave already!!!

It sounds like you are going to a lot of trouble to just fade if you haven't done anything wrong.

Why can't you just move, provide the new address for the congregation and drift away.

If the elders visit, you can just tell them you need a break and they should leave you alone.

    Just my thought.

I don't know what the big deal is with the cards. Just move if that is what you are going to do and leave the cards where they are. why do you have to move them around? Just stop going to the hall. Just stop.

Wow, I must admit, the whole idea of 'moving your cards' from one cong to another is completely foreign to me. Shows how man made this whole thing really is.

Just to cover your tracks, I would change congos at least twice in Chicago. Very good chance that the 2nd "new" cong will then not have the name or address of your original cong in St Louis, thus could not return the cards on their own whim.

Don't encourage him. This is ridiculous. OMG, I've entered the twilight zone...or maybe I have repressed memories of my early days as an untouchable...

Personally, I wouldn't even bother. Just move and leave the cards where they are.

I don't even know where my cards are. They might be 2000 miles away from the state I was born in, or they might be 40 miles away at the last congregation I attended. I really don't know, nor do I care.

If you're going to try, then I agree with the above poster that suggested you transfer to an additional congregation after you move to the first congregation in "Chicago". In the past, I had moved to a new congregation that received my cards and when I wasn't there for a month they sent the cards back to the original congregations without my permission. I'm guessing they were just trying to makes their publisher count look better and not have to worry about tracking me down. That could happen to you after you stop going, they just might send the cards back to where you originally came from and you'd be back to square one.
