Well, Low-Key, you've got a rough job, but someone's got to do it!
Here's my wife's latest love, Lagavulin, 16 yr:
I like it too. Just can't wax eloquently about it.

Can't have whiskey around. It always gets drunk.
Open Mind:
Lagavulin will always hold a special place in my heart. That particular whisky got me started on my path as a scotch lover. The distillery itself is quite charming.
What's different between Rum and Wisky?
I am a wine drinker. I am assuming wine(red wine) has more carloies than hard liquors. Am I right?
What's different between Rum and Whisky?
Rum is distilled from fermented sugar cane juice and/or molasses, then sometimes barrel aged and has molasses added to it (as in the case of blackstrap or navy rum).
Whisk(e)y is distilled from beer made from grain. Grain starch is converted to fermentable grain sugar by enzymes. A rudimetary beer is brewed from this germinated, malted grain and this beer is distilled. The distillate is aged in oak barrels, then usually watered down to the desired proof and bottled.
Your killing me Low Key..That looks so good..
This is still one of my favorite threads..

Tonight's whisky is a time-honored classic: Johnnie Walker Black Label.
This is what I order when I'm out having cocktails with friends, and the ONLY whisk(e)y I ever drink on the rocks. Ice really brings out the naturally caramelly sweet character of this masterpeice.
This is Johnnie walkers's cornerstone blend, and for good reason. A blend of 42 component malt & grain whiskies, this has depth and character unmatched by its peers.
I am drinking some cheap Cdn rye tonight,,, still good, but man, I would love a shot of Oban instead!
Pardon me if I'm a bit drunkie,,, been in training, and haven't had likker (hehehe) in a while.

After my second Johnnie Walker Black this evening, I am inclined to declare it my favorite whisky, overall. I am always asked what my favorite whiskey is, and my answer hs always been "different whiskeys for different days", but, if I have to pick one, I think this would be it. So deep. So complex. So delicious. A true work of art.
Here's a great video on the history of the Johnnie Walker brand:
