Maybe that's the point - meaningless tautologies make more sense than " a generation is composed of 2 groups of overlapping people, and could conceivably stretch for 200 years or more".

Ya got me there! Can't argue with that

So how do we know that the kingdom is coming soon? Is it just a feeling that we have? No, not at all. We've reviewed multiple lines of Scriptural evidence, we've taken eye-witness testimony, all leading to the same conclusion: we are deep into the end of this system. God's kingdom will soon come. Christ will soon complete his conquest. He'll soon guide people, survivors to paradise. So we know that God's kingdom will soon come.

They want us to believe that it's this "scientific process" which comes to the "conclusion" that we are "near the end." Tell me, was this "process" they refer to an honest attempt? Was it to find the truth or was it to validate their past conclusions that are now challenged by the facts? Surely they can't tell us that us not being in the time of the end was ever an acceptable conclusion!

Now we know the resurrection of the anointed began shortly after Christ was enthroned in 1914.

Are they trying to change 1918 to an unknown date now? I thought the resurrection began in 1918 and not "shortly after 1914"!!!

As for the rest, it's totally BS, confusing, not logical and stupid to say that a kid is of same generation as a dying man! Might as well say the last days began when Jesus died since Peter seen the beginning the overlapping generation allows today's "anointed" see the end and fulfill the bible prophesy. No wonder they need dumbed down editions of their publications as only dumber members can feed on their stupidity. More people will wake up and leave the cult so the only ones that will be drawn to it are people who can barely understand written word.

It's still 1918. They consider that "shortly after" 1914. No noo lite there.

The world conditions are always as bad as you want them to be.

The previous LAST DAYS predictions were just as certain based on those (past) conditions.

The "anointed" element is the Maria Russell invention and exaggerated into something even she didn't intend.

Charles Taze and Maria made up the "faithful and wise servant/faithful and discreet slave".

It was based on observing Ellen White (of Adventist fame) get away with having special anointing (visions) from god to straighten out

    the Great Disappointment confusions.

If Maria and Charles could have those special anointing messages too they could steer people into accepting various quirks of failed predictions

    about Jesus' invisible coming.

In Russell's day all christians went to heaven. In Rutherford's time the idea of a Great Crowd was pulled out of the Judge's ass to explain why

there seemed to be MORE THAN 144,000 Jehovah's Witnesses! Any excess members were NOT of the heavenly calling.

These people in the corporate offices just keep grinding up the same sausage and feeding to the membership over and over with flavoring added.

Explaining the "generations" is really all about explaining why they previously GOT IT ALL WRONG.

The more explanations the more wrong they were.

A lie on top of a lie on top of a lie and so forth.

Based on their original explanation of the generation it could be another 50 some years away. To make it more urgent, they claim that the first group had to be old enough to be anointed in 1914.

How can the WTS say that the end is nearer than near and not upset those who expected the end should have already came? They just have to keep confusing the flock.

punkofnice said: Well. I didn't ‘notice' that Rev 6:9-11 & Matt 24:34 have any connection in respects to ‘overlapping', let alone anything else.

God damn it......how many times do I have to tell you not to actually read the bible without a Wash-towel or Asleep magazine to back it all up?! Otherwise people get confuuuuused and may not discern the present truths in there.....

TD writes regarding the Society's teaching from 1995-2008:

    You get:
"Those contemporaneous with the sign who take no note of it will not be destroyed at Armageddon until the entire sign of the end has occurred"
    --Which is a meaningless tautology.

Actually, it may be even more meaningless than that. I interpret it as: "When Jesus comes [soon!] to destroy the wicked, there will be some to destroy..."
