A Thing About Language and Thought Processes...

Is it just my imagination or is there a hell of a lot of crazy on this forum, lately? Studies have shown JWs have 10-15 times as much mental illness as the public and I'm starting to think this is where the ones who are even too crazy to be a JW go.

I have been trying to tell people for ages that this person is mentally... umm.... at a disadvantage and needs help. Apparently, trying to suggest such a thing is "nasty" and "mean" even if such advice is genuine.

I understood also what you said, Shelby. I have a hard time getting that point across sometimes. I did manage a couple months back to relay it to my son... that sometimes things you read from long ago have sayings and expressions that don't mean the same thing today, so sometimes we misunderstand the meaning. I used some slang so he understood.

As for the ancient kind of feel in the language of some of the things you share, I get that too. There are a couple words you use, that might (okay, do, lol) make me squeamish. But I know that is based on me and my time/environment/upbringing. So I read it in terms of what you mean by it. I try to do that with others, but I don't always understand their 'language.'

EP - I just watched that scene not too long ago. Funny.

    Peace to you,

    Tammy

I WAS funny, dear Kazar (peace to you!)... and I laughed when I first saw it in the flick... and again today!

Tec, dear, dear tec... I love you. Truly. You know this. I am sorry some of my words make you feel squeamish, truly. I know you know that is not my intent, at all. I have tried to speak "differently" but it just doesn't work. I feel squeamish - LOLOLOL! I feel as if I'm covertly "changing" something because I want to be "pleasing." Makes my stomach churn, you know? I know you do...

And, yeah, you're right, dear EP (peace to you, you stinky ceegar smokin' hombre). I'll take my stones back, then (SA ducks!).

Oh, and BP... WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE?? There is nothing to SEE here (for you, anyway). Move ON, chile. Let the voice in YOUR head tell you to take your fingers, move your mouse and "click" elsewhere. For goodness sake, chile... it can't be THAT hard. Really.

Peace, chickens! (Hey, where's that Rooster?)

    SA, on her own...

No worries, kid. You're alright in my book. Let's just focus on what's important in life, family, friends, etc.

You never have to apologize to me, Shelby. Please don't change :) I like how you speak, and I understand what you're saying. Sometimes I think I understand better because of how you speak. Sort of like setting the tone of a time-piece.

    Peace and love,

    Tammy

(I couldn't really read what you had highlighted in your last post, EP. Its just such a small type... my eyes must not be working well tonight )

Taking it from someone who speaks 4 languages ... English, punjabi, hindi, spanish (i took german in high school but don't really count it as a language anymore cause it was only a semster) ... Saying one thing in another language and the same thing in the next...definately carries different connotations, and when you relay some messages to mean the exact same thing, the original connotation is lost. Only people that speak the language can fully understand...

oh and i know kung Kak in vietnamase means dick head. ...yeah not sure why that's relavent...
