For 24 out of the 28 years that I was an avid reader of everything that the WTS ever printed, the King of the North was Communism:
- there were no ifs, buts or maybes about that one!
- by extension, too, it was also very strongly implied that "aren't we something else again to have been able to have figured all that out in advance, surely further evidence that God is using us as his sole channel of contact with humankind."
- furthermore, we were often reminded (too many times to enumerate here) that the King of the North, in the form of the "Communist Block" would still be very much alive and functioning when Armegeddon occcurred.
With the collapse of Communist rule in Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union in the early 1990s (i.e. 20 years ago), the King of the North could no longer be Communism :
- now we are told that his identity will not be known until he makes his attack.Is this what "New Light" really means?
i.e. Events occur that demonstrate the WTS was very obviously wrong, so they now have to concoct some another story!
The saddest thing about all this is that most JWs will just continue to swallow such nonsense without question.

I have to laugh...
I'm having a fantasy wherein the U.S. Government decides to tax all churches, synagogues, and mosques within the U.S. border...
Naturally, the Watchtower Society - among other brain-dead doomsday fundamentalists - view this as an 'attack' on religion.
But the I.R.S. is implacable, and none can stand in its way...
And the budget ends up balanced again!!

So, if I understand right, the Watchtower Corporation will be erased during the 1st Phase - when Christendom riches are plunderered!!! Oh yeah, their wealth rivals the Vatican now.
Most of my family are JWs and this is exactly my fear for them ... the Watchtower's erroneous understanding of prophecy starting with denying "literal Israel" - they have spiritualize Israel and claim they (WT) are spiritual Israel. YHWH the Holy One of Israel, is not done with literal Israel yet --- you only have to read the bible to understand this. God will not be happy with anyone who had cursed "Israel" the WT even sided with the Nazi's whe jews were being slaughtered. Lots to think about it ... I don't like the fact that this organization is making people guilty, by association, of the blood of people dying due to their erroneous doctrines on blood, child abuse, endless rules, false prophecies, etc. I have and read the 1954 Walsh trial ... and it is amazing ... I was saddened to realize that behind the JWs hides a publishing company making big money, even the death certificate of Rutherford lists his occupation as Editor and Publisher or something like that ... WHAT? not even the slightlest reference to being any religious preacher or christian minister - nada.

Other interesting points were: the explanation of the generation as is described in the Watchtower about how the anointed ones who saw 1914 would overlap those who they could pass this knowledge on to.
But nothing is offered here in this email, so that indicates that other than a simple statement reiterating the WTS garbage about those who say 1914 overlapping, the person who sent this email either did not understand the details offered or no details were offered or else it was just crap they could not bother to type.

It does occur to me that people who are unconsious are not bored...boredom is caused by intelligence wanting to do something worthwhile.

The district crapvention talks about the feet of the Daniel statue and the end coming very, very soon... without any mention of the cry of peace and security, the destruction of Babylon the Great, or anything about Daniel's King of the North. All those things would require a long, long time to fulfill.

my thoughts exactly Billy, waiting for "the government's to turn on religion" could take absolute decades , every single newly born baby of Dubs today will be long long dead before any of these doctrines were to be fulfilled (in which they wont)
