I work in an office where we started with 3 witnesses about 20 years ago, work at - not own it. 2 more got hired through the years. Of the 3 original, 2 of us were DF'D and the other just slowly stopped going. The two JW's that were left, one was hired to a position of authority - he is an elder and treated the 2 of us that are DF'd like crap. Short answers, wouldn't answer are work related requests, ignored us if we said good morning to him. We never said anything to anyone. But our president was watching for months. He pulled the 3 of us into his office one day and told him: '...you're treating two of my best employees like s---. They have been here 20 years and everyone loves them - but you treat them different. I know they are not in your church anymore - but if this is the way you are going to continue to treat them, you need to tender your resignation.'

That was 2 years ago. He's still at our company, he actually smiles and says good morning now. Bottom line is, he should have quit knowing how much contact he needs to have with us (according to their rules), but he stayed because he knows how good he has it. If you're a good owner - and they are sensible - they will stay.

Oompa - good your back on board -- hope you are feeling ok now?

Well, I do know of a JW couple who do work for a df's boss - the kicker is that he has a supervisor who deals with them and he does not deal with them directly. all information is passed to the supervisor, manager, whatever, and he/she directs them as to what has to be done for the company

This could buy you much needed time OR they will stay as they do not have to deal with your directly.. rather than the folks leaving, they may settle for this and their conscience will not be "seared"

    Just a thought -

Good luck with that Oompa! ashame that jw's impact your business like that. If people could work from home offices elsewhere there are many here who love to work for you! me included. At least you have a heads up for what may be coming and can be prepared for the eventual loss of long time employees. I can't believe in this economy they would actually leave but that is jw's for you. I would worry that if they stay they may not give it their all anymore working for an evil df'd person. Hope things work out ok, I think you have had your share of bad luck the past few years and are in need of a break.

I suppose you should count on them finding empoyment elsewhere. If I we you, I'd begin interviewing new people for all five posistions immediately. Don't make it a secret. tell the current employees that you are planning for future expansion and unexpected contingencies.

You may discover that some of these people will now be plotting against you, undermining your business or trying to go into business for themselves using your customers as their new business base. If so, fire them immediately - no two week notice BS - and get them off your premises ASAP.

    Good luck!

I agree with Nathan. Watch your back and plan for the worst. JWs are masters at rationalizing bad behavior. Some act with integrity, but there are many who won't. Good luck!

If you wait to see what they're going to do, you give them the advantage.

Plan for succession. They will be encouraged to leave.

I'm sure there are enough members of this forum who would gladly consider jumping in and replacing any of your losses. North Carolina may seem like a foreign country at times, but I'm sure there are enough of us in the Old South who might make the move if they could meet your needs and qualifications.

I agree - get them out as soon as you can - with maybe a few exceptions if you know they are not really "true believers." First sign of any slacking, sabotage, or insubordination, use the axe on them immediately.
