When You Left The Organization Were False Rumors Being Circulated About You?

I heard I was "too interested in making money" and that I was letting "worldly pleasures" get in the way.

Did you ever hear anything about your departure???

Yes indeed. After 7 years going on 8 years- the rumor mill still runs amok about me. One JW from my former congregation I ran into told me recently he heard I had been DFed. " Not true " I told him. I told him I won my JC appeal hearing years ago. When I first exited people thought I was cheating on my 2nd wife ( a non-Witness ) because someone saw me sitting at a Starbucks with a female friend 4 months AFTER my ex-wife had left me. The elders got a JC together immediately and 3 of them questioned me before a meeting in the back room asking if either of us had touched each others genitals. I said " No ! " And " certainly not in Starbucks ! "

The list goes on and on. Where I used to live 80 miles south of here, JW's have said so many untruths about me I couldn't count them all. And those are just the untruths I KNOW about. No telling what else they've conjured up. I just don't worry about it. I couldn't care less about what they say now. I'm not affected by their opinions anymore

    Yeah, I was "pregnant".

I'd actually put on 42lbs in 3 months due to an underactive thyroid gland. I even had a reg aux pioneer congratulate me 'on the baby' when she saw me at work one day.

I bet they'd probably have claimed I'd aborted the imaginary fetus had my very straight-talking dub aunt not had words with certain people and quashed that rumour for good!

My mom accused me of doing drugs. Ive never done one in my life. I definitely could have but I never did. Im not sure if she said that to the other JWs or not.

None that I have heard of...we never played any jw games...there were enough lies and rumors when we were "good" jws, elder and elder wife, pioneering, etc. Huge LIES were the final straw for why we left. The rumors would die if people would stop listening to them, but it is the #1 if not #2 form of entertainment for jws.

For the most part my departure wasn't noticed. Extended family members have mistakenly believed that I was baptized and either still in or df'd (a crazy aunt started that bit of gossip). I hope I've done a good job of setting things straight on Facebook (I'm always saying happy birthday to someone to the sound of crickets from the jws on my friends lists). :D

The JW motto when it comes to the Disfellowshipped ' "If you can't say anything bad about them don't say anything at all".

I was fortunate enough to be "in their face" after my DF'ing. I started a company. My company name, which included my name and my partners "----- ---- & Associates" was on signs in front of high profile new commercial construction projects around town for months. The local newspaper did a profile on our company, including pictures, in the business section. We got more coverage when our company was selected to design and subcontract the huge kitchen for the new convention center in town. I must say the expression "the best revenge is living well" has some truth to it. A couple of local elders owned one of those auto detailing franchise shops. When I bought a flashy new sports car ('87 Toyota Supra Turbo) guess where I took it to have the windows tinted? The elder who I dealt with couldn't look me in the eye and looked like he was about to burst a blood vessel in his neck!

I'm only fading and I've stopped attending meetings last January. The rumor circulating about me is: I must have cheated on my husband (he still attends with our daughters)!!! Hubby and I were the last ones to know about it.

I just saw an ex-elder I "served" with next door to my business cleaning windows. He saw me and ignored me as if I wasn't there. (You have to love Jehovah's loving Witnesses!)
