I have to say, I'm not planning to see Transformers: Dark of the Moon in theaters. I would, if I had the money, but I don't. I just wanted to make a thread about something, and since 'Did Adam's vision get blurry when he reached orgasm for the first time?' as a Question From Readers is probably not a good option, I figured I'd go with something safer.
I was confused when I saw an MSN headline asking if audiences would be affected by Megan Fox not being in the movie. Uh...how, exactly? They did exactly what they should've done--cast a model in her place. All she really needs to do is pout her lips, pose or say something sexy once or twice, then run and scream as giant robots get thrown around her. (Obviously these people don't get squished into nothing and can successfully outrun robots 10 times their size. Right??)
I don't know. It just seems like the media isn't giving the general public very much credit. It's not like, Ewan McGregor not being cast in Star Wars: Episode III or something (which would've eliminated one of the only solid performances in that cast). And Megan Fox is attractive, but not irreplaceable by any stretch of the imagination.
Either way, these movies seem to be spending too much time on the humans anyway. The movie is called 'Transformers', I thought, for a reason. It's not supposed to be a mindless action movie. It's supposed to be about the robots. Seems like they blew too much money on making those robots too visually complicated when it would've been easier to make them transform like the toys do (then again, even I have trouble with today's Transformers...). I mean, the entire premise is already implausible; why bother making them seem realistic?
If my guess is correct, there's a big government secret in space, and someone will fill the role of the resident a**hole who gets in the way of the Special Forces' mission, there'll be chases and slow motion transforming, there'll be a wind-swept, pouty girl that for some reason is into Shia LaBeouf (which, as his character is, seems totally beyond my comprehension), and the idiotic Witwicky parents taking up valuable screen time for the sake of humor that the story doesn't need. I do hope I'm wrong.
I just wish I'd gotten to see Thor, X-Men, Super 8, and Green Lantern... I'm going to spend at least $8 on rentals come wintertime, I'll tell you that much.
Well, my convention's in two weeks. I wonder how that's going to go? I'll avoid further details on that issue...but it'd be nice to snag a Young People Ask book. Somebody sent me a link to one I've yet to download 'cause of computer problems at home.
Anyway, I guess I can look forward to Captain America, Cowboys & Aliens, and Rise of the Apes. Nice. Well, see you around, folks! If anyone sees Transformers 3, can you tell me if it's any good?
