Hoo - weee, it's that "Us against Them" mentality, again...

Let's see, if a person disagrees with ANY of the Watchtower Society's teachings, then he/she is either:

    (a) prideful...

    (b) seeking to obtain their own following...

    (c) desirous of gaining personal prominence...

    (d) discontented with their particular assigned areas...

    (e) able to see areas in which the Watchtower Society needs to make adjustments, but is too impatient (!!!) to wait on Jehovah and his organization to make such adjustments in "his" due time...

    (f) Ungrateful for the provision of "Jehovah's day" - that still has not come...

    (g) bitter over mistreatment they have experienced within Jehovah's orgaization... [Which the speaker attempts to segue into: ...]

    (h) resisting obedience to bible principles that would affect them directly... [Not-so-subtle implication of scriptural "wrongdoing"...]

    (i) "speaking abusively of glorious ones"... The speaker refers to elders, and then aims at those who speak against the Gov.Bod... [And of course, this is used to segue into:...]

    (j) running back into "Babylon the Great"...

This next one is a mouthful of lies...

"No one falls victim to apostasy just because it could not be dealt with..."

EXCUUUSE Me??? I'd say that being mistreated, lied to, assigned to distasteful areas/congregations or areas that are unfriendly/difficult/dangerous, constitutes things that CANNOT be 'dealt with' in the long term...

And this is ALSO a mouthful of lies:

"A person falls victim to apostasy because they let their own selfish reasoning, their own ambitions and desires, their chosen associates, mold their mind and their thinking until eventually it divides them off..."

Boy, that's a TOTAL IGNORANCE of facts and data... In fact, I'd call that a BRAZEN DISREGARD for truth, facts, and reality!!!

And then he yammers on about being in a mental lock-step with the Watchtower group-think...

And about avoiding those who cause divisions??? Day - Yamm, that would require avoiding nearly every gossipy elder - and elder's wife - in the organization...

    Thanks for posting that!!

As XYZ said on page one, they never deal with the issues raised by Apostates. If what we level at them are "counterfeit words" "deceptive reasonings" etc. they should be easily defeated by "The Truth" as taught by the WT/JW's.

So, why are they so afraid to put both sides of the argument under the infra-red light ?

Because their teachings will be exposed for what they are, FALSE !

Here's how you can avoid to become a false teacher: don't teach. Also fits in with the whole don't call yourself a rabbi and be humble message of Jesus.

Here's what's not humble: Building a multi-billion publishing company that blankets the world with magazines telling people what "ripe christians" can and cannot do.

Awful dire talk (couldn't work out whether it was a manuscript or not)- the speaker was "evidently" running out of time towards the end so he speeded up the last 3 minutes & read his conclusion quickly word for word. The same old vanilla warnings and assumptions without any details. And the usual admission that "elders are imperfect" which is never said of the "FADS".

The lukewarm applause at the end with doubtless a lot of people looking at their watches & programs wondering when lunchtime will be. Chronic.

I thought it would be interesting to compare. My bolded comments in [] brackets.

    Avoid Personal Apostacy

Today's priesthood lesson was on avoiding personal apostasy. There were several great points brought out in our lesson:
    1. Have a thankful heart and an attitude of gratitude. [avoid ingratitude]
    2. Don't steady the Ark or Play your position or Bloom where you are planted [avoid presumptuousness, pride and ambition]
    3. God does expect faith but not blind obedience.[the WT says the same LOL - however in practice ...]
    4. Don't cast away thy confidence but shelve a doubt and allow God time to answer your question [beware of a doubting attitude; be patient; wait on Jah]
    5. Sustain your leaders which means avoid being passive agressive and dragging your feet. [be quick to obey and support the GB/FDS/congo. elders]
    6. The best way to avoid being cold is to avoid being lukewarm. [enthusiastically get involved; be busy in the org.]
    7. When you joined the church you left neutral ground and can never go back. If you leave the church you are no longer neutral and that is why those who leave the LDS Church can't leave it alone but become vocal critics and antagonists against the Kingdom of God.[there is no middle ground - if you're not for us ... um ... God, you're against us ... um ... God and on Satan's side]
    8. Most important, always remember Jesus Christ (thx Mike).

    From http://ldsdoctrine.blogspot.com/2009/02/avoid-personal-apostacy.html

    Also worth looking at: http://lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?locale=0&sourceId=c3a7767978c20110VgnVCM100000176f620a____&vgnextoid=da135f74db46c010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD

"What is that which turns people away from this Church? Very trifling affairs are generally the commencement of their divergence from the right path."

"Whenever there is a disposition manifested in any of the members of this Church to question the right of the President of the whole Church to direct in all things, you see manifested evidences of apostasy-of a spirit which, if encouraged, will lead to a separation from the Church and to final destruction; wherever there is a disposition to operate against any legally appointed officer of this Kingdom, no matter in what capacity he is called to act, if persisted in, it will be followed by the same results; they will "walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, self-willed; they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities" [see 2 Peter 2:10] (DBY, 83)."

"One of the first steps to apostasy is to find fault with your Bishop; and when that is done, unless repented of a second step is soon taken, and by and by the person is cut off from the Church, and that is the end of it. Will you allow yourselves to find fault with your Bishop? (DBY, 86)."

Pretty much the same patter, isn't it?

All they're doing is blaming the individual. In no way do they mention WT changed doctrine, lies, coverups, etc. This comes down to the fact that there is no graceful way to stop going to meetings.

I also really hate when they say something to the effect of "not waiting on jehovah". Please, give me a brake a human is going out run an all powerfull god. They like to compare theyselves to the nation of israel but the difference being moses was given the whole law no new light . Its a cult!

    "pride, impatience and ingratitude"

The 'pride' part I am not surprised about as a description of an apostate. But 'impatience' and 'ingratitude' part, sounds like accusations for meeting with the judicial committee almost? Soon, accusations of "tired," and "lack of appreciation" will be on their list too.
