    AK Jeff:

hows that about 55% claim to be atheist or agnostic.

What you'll discover is that among the ACTIVE participants at JWR, the figure is much higher. Further, there is virtually no evangelizing done by those of faith, because it isn't allowed.

Welcome, Itsallwrong! I love this board - for many reasons, and mostly because there's a little bit of everything and everyone here! The discussions are lively, as you've probably seen, and there's so much to learn.

It took a while to find my identity, which is always morphing of course.

AK - Jeff's thought resonates for me. As an ex-JW, I find myself leaning more towards atheism. I'm skeptical, I'm not sure, I'm curious, and so I continue to research/read/try to educate myself. I suppose I'm more of a freethinker, were I to try and put a label on it. In the meantime, my identity and belief system also continue to "morph". Truly, it's the process and the journey (and the sheer freedom involved) that I find exciting ... and revel in.

    Peace!

How can you totally reject god? The all powerful, all wise, loving creator of everything? He loves you and is hurt by your rejection of him. Deep down you must know he exists, how else did we get here?

An atheist who likes to believe the world would be a better place without all people of a religious persuasion.

I'd say Agnostic but spiritual, but when i think about it too much atheist is the logical thought. I just want to pretend there may be a God....

I am mostly atheist, although some days I lean toward agnostic. Mostly when I consider the consistent spiritual activities of humans and their ancestors. But even then, I'll never accept the bible as written by a god, nor would I accept that god as the only one. I would lean toward paganism first---which I don't---but it's more logical. Clear as mud?

    WELCOME!

Oh, btw, I read a chart that compared ex-mormons to ex-JW's. We have many similarities, but there were 2 big differences.

    1. Mormons ask to be taken off the church rolls, and meet resistence. JW's are only too happy to obliterate you from their rolls. LOL

    2. Mormons tend to still believe spiritually, but don't like organized religion. By contrast, many more JW's become atheists or agnostics. (Not all of course, these were just numbers)

    Welcome!

A main reason that led me to leaving the witnesses (if not THE reason) is that I blame God for my dear Mom's suffering and death.

Sometimes I am not sure if God exists or not.
