Just wish things worked this fast in the Watchtower World when this kind of thing is discovered.

Cultic Psuedo Religions just aren't as important to the average American as is, Football. BTW, somewhere Gerrit Losch is smiling.

    Exactly. Great comment.

Maybe he should be "inspiring" the governing body to get clean with their god on this - human society is showing less and less tolerance for sex abuse.

The Penn State college football program is adapting WAY faster than the WTBTS when a problem is exposed.

But children should be, no matter where they are.

Granted, Penn State is acting fast to distance themselves from the disgrace and to quickly rebuild the program and keep those recruits coming in and that alumni money donated. If they show any slack in attending to this, it will be the end of Penn State football for a long, long time. In a way, it's money driven as much as it is about safety of children.

The difference is that when exposed, the school took/is taking quick action. Cut their losses, move in the right direction.

The WTS can't do this. To do so admits that god's spirit could not have been on their organization for he would not have allowed such a thing. So they cover up, pay off, and engage the propaganda machine.

But you're right about one thing. The general public doesn't care about off-shoot sects/cults. Because this scandal hit a big football school, and a well respected coach, it makes news. Who hasn't heard of Joe Paterno? Been living under a rock if you haven't (US residents). Who really knows anything about JWs? Most people dont know much about Mormon goofiness. How would then know anything about JWs who keep their goofiness on the down low. And because most people don't really respect or like JWs, they don't really care. So when a JW child abuse story breaks, it doesn't make headlines as when it happens to a school with such a well respected person involved.

They shouldn't let him resign. He should be fired and be thankful if he isn't charged with obstruction or some other cover-up penalty.

The quick action the "Governing Body" of Penn State in getting people OUT of there is one that unfortunately the GB of JWs hasn't followed.

I don't know the facts so I can't judge Paterno. Penn State is ruined. If it wants to stop the damage, Paterno should resign. An appearance of impropriety is also bad. A very sad ending. Such a legend.

Jerry Sandusky, a former defensive coordinator under Paterno, has been charged with sexually abusing eight boys across a 15-year period, and Paterno has been widely criticized for failing to involve the police when he learned of an allegation of one assault of a young boy in 2002.
Additionally, two top university officials — Gary Schultz, the senior vice president for finance and business, and Tim Curley, the athletic director — were charged with perjury and failure to report to authorities what they knew of the allegations, as required by state law.
The board of trustees has yet to determine the precise timing of Paterno’s exit, but it is clear that the man who has more victories than any other coach at college football’s top level and who made Penn State a prestigious national brand will not survive to coach another season. Discussions about how to manage his departure have begun, according to the two people.

It's time for Paterno to leave. He's pretty much top dog there, and he could have straightened things out when he heard about it. So,he's just as guilty as the rest of them for doing nothing.

Paterno is old and senile. You can't expect him to be thinking clearly.
