larc,
: How does that compare to the educational requirements of the elders who are called upon to handle complex, human problems? Well, I don't think I have to answer that, now do I.
I have the qualifications for you:
It takes approximately 37 minutes to learn how to be an expert window washer.
It takes about 16 hours to learn how to expertly use a buffer and most other janitorial work.
It takes about 3 previous disfellowshipings for an elder to get the nerve to ask a lot of dirty questions to all females up the before the judicial committee.
Seriously, though here's the real "training" elders receive. All human problems they deal with come in these categories:
1. "You need more time in field service."
2. "You need to attend more meetings."
3. "You need to study more WTS literature."
Memorizing and diagnosing these three illnesses takes approximately 15 seconds of training. If the patient has none of these symptoms, there is only one other possible diagnosis:
4. "You are obviously demonized."
(3 seconds to master this diagnosis)
Total training time required: 18 seconds. Tops.
