The GOP threw him in the ring because he had paid his dues and it was his entitlement, despite that there was NO WAY he could win.

This may be where Romney is. Entitled, but destined to lose unless things are percieved as SO BAD that the winner will be ABO -- Anybody But Obama. Once again, the election will be won by a couple of swing states and which party can mobilize their voters. If it goes to Romney, his choice of VP may make a difference.
