are they deluded enough to think that it must happen soon? Or are they just stringing everyone along?

Personaly i think that Russell had good intentions and probably belived what he wrote ( although dosn't make it right) but i don't belive that any other GB has really belived the trash that is supposed to be the JW religon. I think they are just in it for the gravy train.

I think they're afraid of the rank and file. And...

The theology is eating it's self. THEY DON"T HAVE ANYWHERE ELSE TO GO.

It's the end of the line.

They have been weighed and found to be wanting.

They have given the job over to the "great crowd".

The great crowd is their only protection.

And they have the great crowd believing that the GB is their only protection.

    It's quite sad.

They don't believe a single thing that they teach the rank and file.

    It's business.

That,s there core doctrine. No way can the GB have any

doubt about when amargeddon wil come. If there is

any inclination in there mind there was or is no foundation

for their preaching of the end times for the last 100 years,

they were completely wrong, the house will fall like A

deck of cards. We are not the chosen ones, the preaching

from door to door was all for nothing. God is not leading

this organization. The GB can not afford having any doubts.

I knew that the JWs didn't have the whole truth, and nothing but the truth before I knew TTATT. (the truth about the truth). So it worried me that the Governing Body members would die and leave the bull shit in the hands of the non-anointed class. I thought OMG that's what's wrong with the whole world. The bull shit spilled into time and even got as far as Eve....

HIGHDOSE- They're just stringing everyone along. I don't think the GB is wondering why it hasn't come, because they KNOW it's not going to come. Armageddon is just a concept or tactic they use to instill fear and submission into rank and file Jehovah's Witnesses. And they use it to keep their end game $$$$$$$ profit going. They are selling evangelical cultism through fear and guilt essentially. It's a business, not a religion

There's a really bizarre statement in the last paragraph of the WT to be studied this week:

We are near the end of our race. The
finish line is as good as in sight.

    Huh?

WTF does "as good as in sight" even mean?

It's either in sight or it isn't. It's like being "a little bit pregnant" - you are or you aren't.

That statement "The finish line is as good as in sight" is so odd. It's even more wishy-washy than typical for them. It sounds to me like they (or at least the writing committee) aren't exactly convinced of Armageddon's imminence.

I have to imagine that it's like the emperor's clothing, even in closed-door sessions of the GB.

Going by Ray Franz and what he wrote, the GB seem to be believers, and I have to imagine they are not even telling each other they don't believe.
It would be kind of like a running private joke amongst them that nobody dares to explain, but they all laugh at; "Yeah, Armageddon is coming any minute now for the last hundred years. You betcha!"
It might be just the same as prosecutors and public defenders sitting down and dealing out their various cases, but then always being adversarial in front of others and saying that justice must always be served and that all innocent and all guilty ones must be appropriately and justly dealt with. The GB would have the freedom to say things in front of each other and talk of new doctrines that might be more acceptable than old ones.

BUT: Voice your disbelief and, well... "We got Ray Franz off the body, and he was a great writer."

But with it being a private joke, they are free to speculate on the overlap or what really might work to retain and recruit. As long as they don't directly admit it's all a lie.

The GB might truly believe (I don't really know), but I have a feeling the real powers behind the corporation/publishing company/real estate investors are laughing all the way to the bank at their "sheeple". They are, imo, the wolf using the rank and file sheep (and maybe even the GB) as clothing.
