I get the feeling that like any group of persons, there are members who are true believers who are puzzled as to why Jehovah seems to be "holding off" on Armageddon, and there are those who know it's BS.

Based upon the 2 recent propaganda pieces about 607bce, I would say most are full of shit, and there are probably only a couple true believers.

To add to this, in a nearby circuit, there is a real old-timer who is not of "the Annointed" but by all respects could be- he has some prominence in the society, and I would actually consider him "a good person" by any standard. In his prayer after the Baptismal talk he gave, he expressed how he didn't know why Jehovah had delayed the end so, but we had faith in his purpose, or something to that effect. What this said to me was that even this dyed-in-the-wool JW at the very least had "concerns" if not doubts about the whol Armageddon "timeline."

Patience. It'll be here soon enough.

An earth destined for fire and complete destruction is made clear by 2 Peter 3:10,11: "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a mighty roar and the elements will be dissolved by fire and the earth and everything in it will be found out. ... everything is to be dissolved this way," (NAB; "Total destruction is assumed (11)," notes 3,10). "...the heavens will be destroyed by burning, and the elements will melt with intense heat" (2 Peter 3:12). "But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men" (2 Peter 3:7). Peter's warning reemphasized Zephaniah's warning, where the ancient prophet transmitted the Almighty's words, "I will utterly consume all things from off the face of the ground, saith Jehovah. I will consume man and beast; I will consume the birds of the heavens, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumbling blocks with the wicked; and I will cut off man from off the face of the ground, saith Jehovah" (Zephaniah 1:2,3)

Complete destruction of man on earth is intended. " Their blood will be poured out like dust and their entrails like dung. 18 Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to save them on the day of the LORD’s wrath.” In the fire of his jealousy the whole earth will be consumed, for he will make a sudden end of all who live on the earth (Zephaniah 1:17, 18). The Jehovah's Witnesses theory that they alone, their great crowd, will survive Armageddon and be ruled from heaven by the 144,000 is simply not in accord with Scripture.

3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” 2 Peter 3

This thread is a bummer. I've wondered about this often enough. When I got appointed and sat in my first meeting with the rest of the body, I thought to myself, "You've got to be kidding me." I've wondered if that same feeling has happened on a much larger scale with those that comprise the Governing Body, or even COs, DOs, Branch Heavyweights, Bethel Heavyweights, etc.? I say much larger scale because many of them have contributed nothing to Social Security, none of them have pensions coming, or retirements, homes, talents that would attract an employer in this economy, etc.. Hence, JWs in powerful places have a lot more to lose if this organization ever had to deal with a schizm. With the internet being the monster that it is, if somebody decided to pull a Ray Franz, it would be HUGE. We're talking Shoryuken levels of damage to the organization.

I wonder too if for some who are in powerful positions, yet know the truth about the Truth, if they keep their mouth shut and play the game because of how damaging such a revelation would be to long-time believers? Can you imagine if the WT stopped judging other Christian denominations, the effect it would have on long time JWs who believed they were special? Can you imagine if the WT rescinded the Blood doctrine, or shunning for those who no longer buy the WT as some unique organization? It was be devestating to long time JWs spiritual egos and esteem. I'm just musing right now, but I wonder if the WT has weighed these concerns and it found that needs of the many who are like us on this message board, pale in comparison to the needs of other JWs who genuinely believe?

IF that were true, Miz, then I think they would be working toward making things better. Not allowing the sending out of 'mentally diseased apostate' articles; or this most recent one about putting the onus on an abused woman for making things right with her abuser. They would be making it easier for people, instead of harder.

    That's my thought, anyway.

    Peace,

The GB have to die to receive their reward whether the end comes soon or not. The latest it will come for them is when they die. (of course all the anointed have the same expectation). The poor snooks that are expecting a paradise on earth, die without anything to show for it. The snooks were told that they could receive their reward without ever dying. Not that the GB receive anything, they're just rotting away in the earth.

Yes! I am sure of it. It is for a twisted kind of love and an appreciation for them that they feel they can't go back now. They're going forward like the bugs in the bible. People are dropping, but they keep going....

WTF does [the finish line is] "as good as in sight" even mean?

It means the millions not living are about to die from old age -- the grave is as good as in sight.

I really do not think so. They propably see this as opportunity for as many people as possible to learn about their belief and convert to it. They might even be worried about populations in China and India and similar, wondering how Jehovah would explain their destruction if real chance to reach out to them was never given. Just trying to remember the slogans flying when Russia got open for witnessing and comparing this situation. In that sense the renewed generation light must be kind of relief, even though they certainly think that Armageddon should come sooner than later. For them the appearance of Armageddon really do not matter afterall, as they believe even if they die today they will immediatelly start new life in heavens and that way will be able to observe Armageddon, even when not present here anymore.

That's how I think they might see it, I could be horribly wrong also
